Check out the Benchmade Model 745 Mini-Dejavoo. Everone seems to either love or hate this knife. I wasn't sure about it myself until I held it in my hand, but it's become one of my favorite EDC's. S30V blade steel, about 3.25 inches long. (model 740 is longer). Uses a blade hole instead of thumbstuds. The blade action is the smoothest of any knife I own, yet the blade still locks without any blade play. Very comfortable handle to use. Excellent pocket clip on it as well. It's a joy to use.

I've had a BM 710D2 for about 6 months and to me it's almost the perfect folder. I was leery of the recurve at first, but after using it I love it. You can use that curve in lots of useful ways and it makes a powerful slicer on a draw cut. A 710 without a recurve would rate lower in my estimation now.

I've thinned the edge to somewhere between 10 and 15 degrees per side and its seriously sharp and holds an edge really well. No matter how much I polish the edge though it still feels a bit toothy, which aids in slicing but has me worried that it may chip if it hits for instance a staple when slicing through cardboard. But until that happens I'm keeping the edge thin and giving Benchmade's D2 a big thumbs up.

The only thing that keeps me from giving it an A+ is the thumbstuds. If they were only a smidgen longer so that their edge protruded past the scales, like the Axis lock studs, it would be easier to open, though I have no problem opening it the way they are now. I've heard that it is possible to get custom thumbstuds so even this flaw can be remedied by the user.

I've got the same problem with a HK/BM14210, the thumb studs are flush with the scales which can make it awkward to open. I would sure appreciate hearing where I to get a wider thumbstud(s), to solve the problem.

Thanks
Dave

a G10 waved delica would be my favorite, no doubt. For now though I switch between the delica and mini grip (555). I like the axis lock and blade on the mini grip, but prefer the thinner profile of the delica. I prefer G10 over plastic handles though, which is why the Delica would be perfect that way.

I love spyderco... Definitely my favorite production company, Love the dodo, caly3, delica, and harpy equally, I am actually thinking about getting a mini manix

However,

The 3 in xm18 is the cats meow, it is above and beyond my favorite knife.

That would be awesome:thumbup:

While reading this thread I had a thought. What if I put a washer between the thumbstud and the blade? So I took off the thumbstuds and got out my collection of washers. For the 710 its a very specific size, its overall width needs to approximate the thumbstud width or it jams in the liners and sticks out over the spine of the blade and the hole needs to be just right to slip over the lip of the stud and it can't be much thicker than a half a millimeter or there won't be enough purchase on the threads. I was able to tweak a split washer to meet most of these specifications and attached it. Now the thumbstud on one side is raised just a bit above the scales. It makes a pretty big difference. :)

Despite having a nice collection to choose from my 710 is the perfect knife for me. In fact, I haven't even bought another knife in quite a while as I know any new knife will eventually find its way to my drawer after a week or two and the 710 will return to its rightful place in my right rear pocket.

I'm also disappointed that knives come in only two flavors: chocolate and vanilla.

We're long overdue for some designer blades. All I'm sayin' is if they could do it for my lunch boxes back in the early 60s, they can design something for my knife that will make it a real collectable.

Hi Confederate,
How about this blade colour? Grape?
