i am still searching...you guys help me out? haha
i like:
1. no studs(without speed assist), holes prefered
2. great steel, blade about 3-3.5 inch
3. handle ergonomic, fatter handle with no hot ridges
4. tight lockup
5. very smooth
6. looks apealing.
am i just rambling on about a dream knife? or is there such a knife. haha
I've had a BM 710D2 for about 6 months and to me it's almost the perfect folder. I was leery of the recurve at first, but after using it I love it. You can use that curve in lots of useful ways and it makes a powerful slicer on a draw cut. A 710 without a recurve would rate lower in my estimation now.
I've thinned the edge to somewhere between 10 and 15 degrees per side and its seriously sharp and holds an edge really well. No matter how much I polish the edge though it still feels a bit toothy, which aids in slicing but has me worried that it may chip if it hits for instance a staple when slicing through cardboard. But until that happens I'm keeping the edge thin and giving Benchmade's D2 a big thumbs up.
The only thing that keeps me from giving it an A+ is the thumbstuds. If they were only a smidgen longer so that their edge protruded past the scales, like the Axis lock studs, it would be easier to open, though I have no problem opening it the way they are now. I've heard that it is possible to get custom thumbstuds so even this flaw can be remedied by the user.
a G10 waved delica would be my favorite, no doubt. For now though I switch between the delica and mini grip (555). I like the axis lock and blade on the mini grip, but prefer the thinner profile of the delica. I prefer G10 over plastic handles though, which is why the Delica would be perfect that way.
I've got the same problem with a HK/BM14210, the thumb studs are flush with the scales which can make it awkward to open. I would sure appreciate hearing where I to get a wider thumbstud(s), to solve the problem.
Thanks
Dave

I'm also disappointed that knives come in only two flavors: chocolate and vanilla.

We're long overdue for some designer blades. All I'm sayin' is if they could do it for my lunch boxes back in the early 60s, they can design something for my knife that will make it a real collectable.
