I get OCD whenever I accumulate more than 5 pocket knives.

You guys are crazy lol. I have tons of knives and only want more, even if I don't really like one I thought i would I wont sell it. I also wont sell any knives on here/auctions/other Internet sites (tho sometimes ill sell them in person if someone offers). Usually when I do sell something a month later I wish I had it back so anymore if I do find a knife I really don't like I'll gift it to one of my friends, that way if I end up wanting it back I can go back to whoever I gave it to and make a trade to get it back.

I have somewhere near 350 knives do the short answer to your question no, I get OCD when it comes to getting rid of them. I can't which is why I have so many.

The other end of this is I like collecting them and with so many it's like picking which socks to wear in the morning, no g get to choose a few different ones everyday to carry, different knives for different purposes.

I don't have a set number, but I do only tend to keep one knife per intended use.
CS Tuff Lite: Tape and cardboard knife
Spyderco Gayle Bradley: Hard use work knife
ZT 0550blk: Bad weather hard use work knife
Meyerco Darrel Ralph DDR EDC: Walking in a bad part of town knife
Ka-Bar Becker BK11: Cold weather ^
Svord Peasant: Around-The-House knife
Benchmade 530: Ill-fitting pants knife (<2oz)

When I find a new need, I get a new knife. Currently thinking about getting a "classy" knife, but my customized Gayle Bradley might do. I'm not sure.

I have over 500 knives, and all of them in new unused condition except for a small handful of "users."

And my OCD compels me to buy even more. Just picked up a 4th Becker, a sixth or seventh Great Eastern, and somewhere around my 16th Case.

Hypothetically for whatever reason if you had to replace those 500 knives how many would you rebuy if you could out of curiosity!

I bought a Gold membership here months ago so I could sell some of my knives.

I have yet to sell one but I've bought 4 more.

<shrugs>

With so many that are discontinued, one-of-kind customs, or vintage... replacing them would be out of the question.

But to answer the spirit of your question, I'd guess there are 20 or 30 that are so crappy or undesirable I wouldn't care if they were replaced or not.

No limits here. I probably have at least 10 different Vic SAKs alone. I carry SAK most days. Rotate? Sometimes. I Should say that I try to, but I always seem to have a SAK in my pocket no matter what other knife I have with me.

I have 150+ in my collection (mostly ZT/Kershaw, some Spyderco and Benchmade, some misc.), and I have about 20 or so in EDC rotation. I have never sold any, and have only traded one off, and I regret that (an S35VN PM2)!

I have lots of knives and never feel the urge to sell any of them. I don't carry a lot of them, but some have sentimental value to me, so I would never carry them.

I do not make a point of using all my knives: I have got much more than I would ever need anyway. I keep a box for knives that I use in daily rotation: but even now it becomes too crowded and I suppose I will have to move some of the knives out and into the closet, again.
I do not think it makes any sense for me to limit myself down to the number of knives that I can use: because then I would probably start collecting something else altogether. The last time that were shoes: about as expensive but taking up much more closet space... I would rather stay on knives for a while!

My magic number is four, no idea why...

Three seems like too few, five seems like I have too many...God we're all nuts aren't we?

I honestly can't say how many knives I own. 20-25 maybe? Haven't counted in a while. I buy/sell/trade constantly and when I come across one I like it goes in the rotation or the box. It may rarely see the light of day but when I pull it out it will put a smile on my face. I may not have a need for a knife I like but I also don't have a need to sell a knife I like.

After four years ,I got it down to five. All are used ,don’t see the point in keeping non users.

I couldn't tell you exactly how many . I constantly buy /sell/ trade/ make.The # goes up and down,mostly up.Probably in the neighbohood of 150-200.

So for the guys that have a lot of knives say 20+ ...if something nefarious happened and you lost that collection...beyond the economic loss would you feel any loss beyond what money you put into it and how many would you actually replace in your collection with the same? If it were me... I would be sentimental about a crkt drifter but I wouldn't replace it or feel a thing. I would probably buy a bm sequel and not another grip or presidio.100% would get another opinel and trapper pattern though. The peanut and coke bottle is to be seen as is the spyderco. Outside of a ukpk I haven't warmed to spydercos as much as BM's even though spydies cut fantastic and I constantly keep trying new ones.

I have around 20-25 total. I keep 8-10 in a lockbox in my nightstand and pick from those to carry every day. The rest are put away and are mostly old knives that were my grandfather's or great-grandfather's. I would be sad if I lost those for sure, that's why I don't carry them. Of the ones I use regularly, I would be sad about a couple (my wife and boys gave me one for Father's day, one I've had since I was a teenager, etc.) but I'd get over it, they are just knives. Sometimes I do feel silly for having so many, but I'm sure my boys will be glad to have them when they grow up. I have slimmed down to only having knives that I will actually use (other than the family heirlooms).

If they all disappeared, I'd probably buy a small Sebenza and a Peanut and call it a day. Oh and I almost forgot, maybe replace my Mini Ritter with Cuscadi scales and I would probably need another Case Sway Back Jack and... :D

I had about 25 or so knives all production mostly LE's and sprints but my tastes have changed as i only collect custom folders now, so i sold all my production knives sans a large 21 sebbie.
And now i'm down to about 10 customs and am whittling those down as i refine my collecting tastes... eventually hope to get down to about five or six kick arse knives.
And i've only been at it about 8 months!

This is funny. I have all the knives I "need" and then some. but then I see some beautiful shiny new knife and simply must have it. I find myself wasting huge amounts of time "researching" them, looking for it on line, comparing prices, whatever. eventually I get so mad at myself for all the time wasting I just buy the thing so I can get on with the rest of my life, and I tell myself "Keep this one mint, and next time you "have to have" a shiny new knife, there it is. That might last 2 days, then its in my pocket, cause I feel like a fool for buying something I will never use. There is clearly something wrong with me, and probably joining this forum is not going to help.
I envy those that can keep stuff in a nice case for collecting.

I open and ruin everything I buy.
