I give up I cant sharpen $#!* 2nd update page 5

I got the leather from Tandy Leather Company. The are on the web just google them. I got about 5-6 sq feet for about $45

Still working just can't seen to get that lazier edge everyone else does. You know tree topping sharp.

Still not tree topping or hair whittling but still keeping at it. I did get some 3 micron 1 micron and .25 micron diamond spray. I havent put them to use yet. Just got my leather in today to make some more strops. My plan is DMT EF then 3, 1, .05 green compound, and then .25 micron stropping. How does that progression sound to you sharpening experts? Opinions please.

It might be easier to achieve tree topping if you first achieve mirror or near mirror finish on the edge using a waterstone, I use naniwa stones from my straight razor sharpening and the 5000 grit leaves a finish that's practically mirror, and then go to your loaded strops, also the angle you sharpen at needs to be quite sharp.
Last times I got tree topping was taking the edge upto 8000 grit on naniwa super stones and then stropping on a loaded strop.
But I think the DMT ef would be too rough to start with in your case. I have the little dmt 8000 grit (that's the ef right?) sharpening thing and if i use that to touch up an edge that was originally sharpened at my 5000 naniwa I notice it leaves the edge a lot more rough.
Hope this helps.
