Yes it's a giveaway, along with confirming a rumor!! Bill ran out of Cocobola for the #14s, so made some Soupbone, Tom's Back, Barlows to fill in the last couple of dozen for my knife order!! Please don't write, they are gone!!
But since there were so few, I decided to stage a GIVEAWAY!!!
This is a reference GA!! You must qualify - lots of past participation - and you must propose another qualifying member!! 3 YEARS a MEMBER, and 50+ posts for both of you!!!
Write a brief paragraph to make your case for the deserving member!! Or confirm someone else's proposal!!! Don't be shy!!
Monday or Tuesday I will call an end and make a short list, and put the post numbers in a hat!!
"She Who Finds Knives" will draw one!!
The prize!! Bill did a great job!!Give it.jpg

Im equally shocked and happily amused that Bill ran out of cocobolo seeing as it seemed like he got a tremendous deal on cocobolo. We mustve had at least 4-5 patterns with it! My official entry will come later.

I propose JohnDF JohnDF !!!

Everyone know he has been an outstanding member here (along with many others, of course), with witty remarks, insights, helpful and enjoyable comments, and not to mention his many GAWs. Besides, I owe him for his wonderful gesture of recent :thumbsup::thumbsup: 🤣

Thank you very much Charlie - this is a knife I would happily carry and use, as I'm sure would my Canadadian friend and so I heartily propose CelloDan CelloDan - aka, Dr. Dolittle - not that he does little but that he does lots - of talking to the animals, specifically chickadees, which he has shared with us with such dedication and good humor on his started, long standing stand WALK IN NATURE thread - 87 pages and more than 1700 posts since May of 2021. He has taken us on boat cruises along the Rideau Canal in Ottawa, and ice sledding too and opened up the world to BF by inviting all other members to share their outdoor adventures. YES - the traditional knives are exceptionally well represented.

Cheers and good luck all. Very cool

Thank you for the tremendous giveaway waynorth waynorth , Im gonna go with a legend in the forums. Im curious if he still frequents, but 2Dead 2Dead is my nomination. He was instrumental in my really early days on the forums with a lot of answers to my questions about gecs and what not. In fact, his knife pictures in the google image search is part of the reason I joined the forums back in college. I was looking for single blade trappers. His pictures would come up all the time. Trand would turn away any offers of gifts of knives once I had established my collection of traditionals. He had quite the bunch, and has contributed a lot of information collected about gecs that some folks still reference today, which has faded back in to the back log of the traditional section.

I will nominate Taylor ( tmd_87 tmd_87 ) for this knife GAW. He routinely provides an outstanding reminder to all of us that these knives while beautiful are also worthy of being used. If you want to see a GEC with patina just search for one of Taylor’s posts! Generally they look even better after some use.

It's hard to pick just one, but I nominate JohnDF JohnDF . He's polite, even when in disagreements. He's got a healthy appreciation for knives like the one above, and when he lets his knives go he sells them at very fair prices. He's honorable and plays by the rules. If it's not obvious from all his GAWs of his handmade pocket slips, he's interested in keeping this place fun, fruitful and exciting. I'd love nothing more than if he got one of these, knowing that he'd pay forward his good fortune as he always does. There are a few good folks who I think are real friends to the forums, and he's one of them.

I would like to propose my friend Will Power Will Power . Although this forum's denizens is comprised largely of American members, Will is one of the people that gives this place an international flair. I value his thoughts and input, which is always well-considered.

His tastes run the gamut and he likes knives of all sorts. That barlow will fit right in with his eclectic selection.
