This is the first time I ever got ripped off purchasing a knife, and I just wanted you guys to know so it doesn't happen to you. I purchased a knife from a company called Dt Distributors by sending credit card info. (approx. $150 total), and never received the knife. This was several months ago, and after many phone calls and e-mails with no response, I have written it off.

I did a search for this company (should have done it before I ordered), and they go by several different names: Dt Distributors, Dt Distributors Police Supply Online, and Texas Police Supply Online, and are located in Bonham and Sherman, Texas. I tried calling the various phone numbers and get the same recording, and have left messages with no reply.

If you click on the following link: http://www.aboutus.org/dtdistributors.com and go about 1/3 of the way down the page to YOU CAN SEE HIS RECORD HERE, and click on it , it will link you to the Texas Better Business Bureau showing all the complaints that have been filed against each of these companies.

I would never try buying from this company again, and would never recommend them to anyone. I have always bought from reputable custom makers and dealers in the past, but since this incident, if it's not someone I know of, I check them out before purchasing.

After 30 -60 days, you should have made a paypal dispute claim. That's why you use paypal and not just a credit card, to protect yourself from this kind of ripoff. Even credit cards have protection by allowing chargebacks for undelivered products but claims must be made within certain time limits.

Moiman, it was a credit card not paypal. I made a mistake in the thread but have edited it. Ya, time slipped away but thanks for the info. They never answered one phone call or e-mail.

Time hasn't slipped away. You can do a credit card chargeback up to 6 months after purchase. Contact your card issuing bank.

I have always had good luck with CC chargebacks. Sometimes it takes a bit of effort, but it is worth it.
good luck & follow the dog's (above) advice,
rats...

You are way more likely to be successful with a chargeback than with a Paypal dispute.

Amen to that. And when you're trying to pay with a CC through Paypal and it starts in with the how safe Paypal crap is disregard it. They're full of it. Plus, if you let just Paypal deal with getting screwed they will "think about it" for a month or so and even if they do side with you the money still has to be in the scammers account or they won't do didly for you. Then you figure out dealing with them at all was a total waste of time and call your CC company who takes care of it quickly... depending on which cc company you use and if they are in bed with the scammer in question. (AMX and Discover seem to be more for the people that you buy stuff from than you personally.)

Oddly enough, I live in Sherman, Texas. If you can give me an address I would be happy to pay them a visit.

Whatcha think man?

It was tough finding it last night, it seems to be in an old strip mall. But the whole place had no lighting, therefore was not a good idea for me to snoop around with a flashlight. Tends to give off the wrong impression. Going by there again this morning.

Update.

This place was never here, and never has even been heard of around these parts, in either Bonham or Sherman, both of which are close enough together that I investigated them both.

Make the request for the charges to be charged back to your account. Tell them to check the address. As there is no establishment there.

Hope this helps.

Solobaric, thanks very much for spending the time, I really appreciate it. I'll have to talk to the credit card co.

It is surprisingly easy to do a chargeback on a CC especially when you explain this is a true fraud. Good luck!
