before i knew about bladeforum and before I knew much about Becker Knife and Tool I had seen some great looking knives by Becker Knife and Tool on Amazon and eBay.
Then I came across the add on eBay for micarta handles for a BKT patrol machete (but the picture was the handle on the machete so I thought he was selling the knife too) so I emailed the seller who explained he was only selling replacement handles that he made from micarta not the machete. But he said that if I found a Patrol Machete I should buy it because they are hard to find. A couple weeks later I found this on eBay
Below is the description there was also a pic with the B KT etching in the blade near the handle
Becker Knife and Tool, CM-BK6 Patrol Machete
Up for auction is a Becker Patrol machete. These have been discontinued and are rare. This one has never been used to cut anything but has been handled lightly. No box. Payment expected within 3 days. Here are the specs:
Becker Knife and Tool, CM-BK6 Patrol Machete
Becker Knife and Tool, Becker Knife and Tool Fixed Blade Knives feature: full tang construction, 58-59 Rockwell high carbon 0170-6C steel blades with matte black epoxy powder coat, ergonomic molded GV6H (glass filled nylon) handle scales with lanyard hole, and Kydex multi-carry sheath or nylon sheath as notated.
Patrol Machete: 14" recurve blade .250" thick, 19" overall, nylon sheath
I won it buy bidding in the last 15 seconds I think I got it for 80 dollars
I checked the seller he had a good reputation. But maybe he got burned and didnt know it either I am waiting to hear back from him
The etching does have BK and T one the blade but not real clear and the real problem is It stayed unused as i was going to resell it in the future like an investment. But a week ago I decided to just keep it and I was out in the field behind my house clearing out some thorn bushes.
I went to cut a small branch maybe twice the size of my thumb maybe 2 or 3 inches in diameter and it bent right in the middle of the narrow area of the blade - bent a lot - with my hands i easily bent it back now i am sad - not so much that i wasted the money on it but because i thought i had a real good machete - now i can only think i either have a fake or it was a bad one off the factory or that i got ripped off - either way i am seriously disgusted about this.
Anyway it was my first Becker (or maybe not maybe my first fake) on top of feeling stupid - it is depressing
I still want one maybe someday I will find a real one for sale
Any ideas suggestions other than dont buy off eBay
Thanks for your time and a place to ask about thing like this
