I bought an allegedly used KB2 on Etsy from a seller purportedly named Dale who goes by "VintageSurplusFinds". The KB2 is the perfect blade for a friend of mine who has a birthday inbound, and I was kind of psyched to get one at a discount.

And that is how every sad story about counterfeits starts, more or less, and damned if I didn't fall for it. That discount appealed to my own greed. I wouldn't call it greed so much as thrift, but whatever you call it, it was a bargain, and I bought a pig in a poke instead.

I would really love to get a good price on a stonewashed KB2. Who's trustworthy out there? It's for our old Scoutmaster, who's basicaly the Audie Murphy of the Scouting world. He;s the most-decorated Scout lifesaver in history, and he lost a leg and nearly went blind after he was gravely injured righting a roadside fore that threatened to touch off a propane explosion in front of a nursing home. It is a terrible story, and we nearly lost him. The B.S.A. awarded him the Honor Medal with Crossed Palms and the Baden-Powell Scout Movement in the U.K. conferred their Bronze Cross for Gallantry on him (the British are fancy... they confer stuff...) so now he's the only one knw to have received teh Honor Medal twice since 1923, and the only one to receive the top valor award in two different country's Scouting programs.

He deserves a good blade. They asked him to donate his gear and medals to the national museum so we're trying to build him a new set of camping gear so he can return to the field as soon as he can walk again.

And I even told the seller about him. Soulless, mealy-mouthed scumbag!

And what;s worse is, every one of these petty counterfeiters are buying fakes from the Chinese, who are pocketing big profits in U.S. currency, and the local counterfeiters know it. They're basically engaged in petty acts of treason every time they sell a fake KaBar. I'm thinking about sicking the law on him. I'm seriously livid.

I'm mostly just venting, but I would love to buy a real Macoy, even a used one, so if you are out there and have one for sell, hit me up and talk to me!

Thanks for listening.

All the best,

Roger

Keep an eye on the fixed blade exchange.
Also, try posting in the WTB section. As a Registered Member you will only see your own thread; but those whose membership allows selling can see all of them.
