I guess we know his stance.

Although I hate line item attachments and earmarks - I don't see a problem with carrying a weapon if you follow the legal guidelines.

...and I am all progressive and stuff. ;)

Although I ( like Talfuchre) am opposed to earmarks, this is the first time I have seen someone use them to our (my ) benefit. I usually like the new law but hate the earmarks. I'm reversed this time around (somewhat). I actually think the credit card law makes some sense, it's the backlash from the industry that has me hating it. They are saying that now everyone will be treated the same when getting a card, 20% interest and a yearly fee.

As far as the gun thing, I think it's necessary. Just look at the Silver Comet Trail here in GA.

I,ve always CCW'ed in the woods irregardless. As they say,"Better to be tried by 12 than carried by 6"--;)--KV

David,

If it really means that much to you, pay the card(s) off and get rid of them. They're not going to lose anything they earned. They were allowed to write a bunch of legislation, which legislators are supposed to do, in the 1990s which gave them basically free reign to do as they wished. Now just a small part of it is coming to an end and it's not even immediate and like a big, fat baby bird, they're crying. They made out like the bandits they were for a decade and a half, living that "money for nothing" lifestyle while hiding behind the word "risk." It's B.S., when everyone is tired of being sodomized, they will pay their cards off, cut them up and then when these parasites hit the skids perhaps some sanity will come back to the whole credit card industry.

"Families should not have to stare down loaded AK-47's on nature hikes"

That has to be one of the dumbest sentences I've ever read.

"Families should not have to stare down loaded AK-47's on nature hikes," said Paul Helmke , the president of the Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence. He added that Obama "should not remain silent while Congress inserts reckless gun policies that he strongly opposes into a bill that has nothing whatsoever to do with guns."

Why can't stupid people like this just die of a stroke and be done with it?

Yes, just as soon as this bill is signed, the first thing I'm doing is taking my AK-47 on a hiking trip. /sarcasm

Somebody should let the Brady Bunch know their shitcom was cancelled years ago.

I was going to quote that line as well. As soon as guns are mentioned, they assume that families will be packing AK's. That's hilarious, and sad.

"AK47" is the "Saturday Night Special" of the 21st century. Sort of an alarmist code word.

The democrats determined they could have a majority if they did not demand that their candidates pass a gun control litmus test.

This is the natural result of that.

Rather than nature walks a lot of these parks have places where you can hike and camp way back and there's no reason why a person shouldn't have a gun in that instance.

The banks and credit card companies have been bleeding the working classes dry with deceptive tactis and fees so I'm personally glad both segments of the bill passed.

Scot McElveen , the president of the Association of National Park Rangers , predicted that the measure would provoke problems at the parks.

"Members of the ANPR respect the will of Congress and their authority to pass laws, but we believe this is a fundamental reversal from what preceding Congresses created the National Park System for. Park wildlife, including some rare or endangered species, will face increased threats by visitors with firearms who engage in impulse or opportunistic shooting."

I think he's right - suddenly I have an impulse to go to the nearest national park and use my credit cards for target practice...

Seriously though, that's a pretty stupid statement - people are going to poach simply because they are carrying a gun? Yeah, right, trigger-happy gun owners just won't be able to resist the urge to shoot any wildlife they see...

well, whatever - it's happy trails again for me and my AK47!! ;)

Thank God for the NRA. Even with the whole government in the hands of the Democrats, traditional gun haters, it looks like our 2nd Amendment rights are still safe, for now, and maybe even expanding. While this amendment to a credit card bill had nothing to do with credit cards, this is a hopeful development. Now maybe the ammo horders will back off some since this vote shows no sentiment for more restrictions. I need ammo! BTW: My NRA Bowie came in today.

HUGE +1 on this statement. This perfectly demonstrates the supreme ignorance of "gun-grabbers".

The writer of that article will be thankful when the day comes that a law abiding gun-carrying citizen just happens to save his life and those of his family in a National Park from God knows what. Of course, he'd actually have to visit a National Park for that to happen.

I personally am very glad we can now carry in National parks. As much as I liked going to some I hated the fact that if I had one it had to be disabled.

Carry your AK47 to a park and if you come to a Utah park bring me along. I figure you won't be pointing it a other law abiding people so I really don't care what you have.

After talking with some old LEO buddies about the drug trade in Utah and where the makers and dealers like to hide (places that out law guns) I'm glad there is one less place here in Utah. :)

actually, I'm not concerned about it for my own interests as mine are paid off and I have good credit. I'm just saying that it sucks that the card industry is backlashing the way they are.
