I hate scratches!!

The OP was posting earlier about how he got a scratch on his HI khukuri...

The most liberating point in owning, carrying and using knives is that magical point where you can put a knife in your pocket and NOT worry about the first scratch. And I'm serious. No sarcasm spoken here. I love a pristine knife but honestly, that shouldn't last very long, plus I love a lightly used knife even more. Enjoy the liberation if you ever get there :) When you do, you might feel the same. After all, a knive might not look like a hammer but a knife is still a tool first and foremost . . .

If you're familiar with a brand new stainless steel sink, you have a good idea what happens to a well built knife with use. The first scratch might be a minor eye sore but as it gets used and scratched more and more, it becomes "stonewashed" in appearance and looks pretty damned good :D

This is funny. I actually LIKE scratches. It gives them character and shows they've been used. I almost look forward to scratching my knives. :D

I used to be a somewhat of a perfectionist when it came to certain knives (and I still am to a smaller degree) and hated when my favorite blades got scratched. Now I like it when most of my blades get scratched because it shows they've been used though I'll admit, I've kinda babied my HI CAK khukri.

Pick one nice knife and start carrying and using it. It will get all scratched. Get used to it. You will see that it is not any worse because of it. So it may help you by the way with the rest of the knives you will not use as EDC.
I have many knives, and some are not used at all. Unlike many people here I do not see any problem with it: these are my knives, I paid my own money for them and it is up to me to do whatever I please. It is neither cool nor lame. Whether I use them or not: that does not change anything at all. I stay the same beautiful myself.
So do not do anything you do not like to do! It worked for me: it does not necessarily work for you! ;)

I actually like the scratches and the wear that builds on my blades.

I'm the same way with cell phones, I hate a brand new shiny phone.

Scratches are the least of my worries. I worry about chipping or rolling the edge or worse yet dropping the knife and breaking the tip off.

I'd like for my knife to remain pristine and unworn but I also use my knives. I can't have my cake and eat it too. :D

I can't help it, is this a problem for anyone else?? Maybe it's because I am a new collector, but I can't stand any tiny scratch. Someone help! Hahah

Don't ever even take any new knife out of the box - problem solved.

I know just how u feel, I'm the same way but u got to get use to some small scratches :-)

Just collect pictures of the knives you like.

But really, I assume some good polishing compound will help, but the only knives I own without sctatches are the few in reserve.

hahaha that's awesome

hahaha you guys are hilarious I had my gf (whom is incredibly sexy & I bang, by the way) read me these on the drive home yesterday. Hahaha fine I'll use em!

Now with all this banging....don't you worry about scratching her? :D

Hm... scratches... I have serveral on several, nearly all my knives. That gives them a character which I wouldn´t see on displays knife at all.

But you have an interessting point of view... ;)

Kind regards

Take some pictures of the knife when it's new. Then don't worry about it because they get scratched just sitting there somehow. I think it's neutrinos on steroids.
