I Hate Southern California

And San Diego would be proud to have you, Suz.

Chris, nice shots! While I wish it would rain and stop the drought, it surely has been pretty. Makes it hard to go to work.

Thanks Frank,
Truthfully,
I love stormy weather, and we definitely need alot more rain. I was hoping El Nino would kick in. Maybe it still is, there was an unusual amount of fish around the area. The boys were seeing "leapard sharks" in the water. It could have been those little red sharks about 3' to 4' long. I used to catch them all day long in Newport harbor. They were fun to catch with a trout pole.

Well I LOVE Southern California. I end up vacationing in the Santa Barbara / Ventura area probably every other year on average, visiting with family and friends. If I thought I could navigate the arduous immigration process, I'd move there in a heartbeat. I could put up with the social and political aspects that would get on my nerves in exchange for year 'round motorcycle weather and beautiful beaches.

There is no life east of I5.

Now that statement is a little dogmatic. ;) I have been an inland dweller for most of my life, still am really, about 30 miles from the coast. Maybe when I retire, I can purchase a little a place on the central coast. If it is a small enough place, none of the adult kids would want to live with us, only visit occaisionally.:D

Y'all should come to Fresno. I make great BBQ.

I grew up in SoCal and wouldn't go back for anything. I can't take the laws, the people or the weather.
What nobody ever mentions when discussing SoCal weather is the fact that it changes three times a day. The morning is cool and wet, the afternoon is hot and dry and the evening is cool and wet again. For people like me with arthritis this is absolute hell.
Just my .02 but I lived there for 27 years and the only reasons I ever go back is my parents and Farmer Boys pastrami sandwiches.

Farmer Boys does make a fine pastrami. I would not mind a change to mountains, or an area that actually has seasons, but I bet my bones will be laid to rest in So Cal clay soil.

I asked my wife to let me be buried at sea. I requested having my cadaver be catapulted/flinged/launched and then exploded directly over a boil of feeding tuna, that's right, chum bait baby! I want a fishing trip for a funeral. I do not think it is a bad idea really. I would hope all would catch tuna during the feeding frenzy.

She says she will not grant my request. I guess I have no say in the matter.

What knife would be right for such an event? :foot:

There was a thread about a funeral knife was'nt there? If you came to my funeral, consider yourself officially invited now, and I did get my "exploded over a feeding pod of tuna" wish, I would say you would need a Spyderco Pacific Salt, black handle not that yellow thing. You will be needin a tuna knife. I would hope you would have a very well precision crafted and dimensionally accurate So Lo polished bevel on that.;)

That's right!!!

I'm the head polisher around here and don't you forget it!!!

Wait.... Er' maybe that's a bad thing

After you get stoned, you'll be a good polisher too :D

I've resided in Orange Country my whole life, except a brief 9 month stint in Phoenix. I do love my hometown, but the political and social environment around here is a huge problem for me.

Ugh...this is just terrible. I found out my internship might be in So Cal and I was actually looking forward to it until I saw this :grumpy:

You'll probably love it. For a while.
Then when you see what is going on around you, when you get up in the morning and the see marine layer and realize it really isn't "sunny and 72" all day every day. Then find out that you can't throw your trash out until you've recycled every thing that can possibly be recycled and you are told how much water you are allowed to use, then you will feel like I do about it.
When I visit my folks and listen to all the garbage they have to go through to live there I wonder why the heck they put up with it.

Yes,
It is best to stay away. Terrible places like California should be avoided at all cost. I have the daunting task of sorting refuse from recyclable materials. I would much rather pack it all into the current landfill. They can build another landfill on my favorite hiking trail/canyon in 15 yrs. I may be to old to hike there anyways by then. I am forced to flatten out cardboard boxes and other food boxes so they will fit it into the recycling container. Gee, I wonder what tool I may need to do that task? Poor Californians we are.

One thing I can say is, I'm truly glad there are people that love California. It keeps them from invading Oregon.

I do hear that it is best to remove your CA plates quite quickly if you emigrate to Oregon. Those are beautiful pictures!

There used to be a sign at the southern border that said "Welcome to Oregon now go home!":D
