I have a question for you folks!
I have acquired a bunch of really nice wood over the past year or so. I had plans of doing some segmented turning on my lathe but just lost interest.
I've noticed that wood handle material being sold here isn't usually stabilized.
I was thinking about cutting some of the wood up into block and scale size pieces, and was wondering if you guys would be interested in it if it wasn't stabilized?
I have flame redwood, spalted maple, bubinga, cocobolo, ebony, lacewood, ziricote and some other stuff I don't know what it is.
I thought I would post this first and see if anyone was interested.
I can post pix of the wood if anyone wants to see it.
Thanks for taking the time to check out my post!!!

And to answer your question, not it doesn't have to be stabilized for me to want it. I could even find used for other sizes and shapes, not just handles.

Like to see what you have. IMHO, it's better to offer non-stabilized unless you're able to cite WSSI or K&G as the stabilizer.

I prefer blocks over scales and would like to see all that you have. But I am interested most by the odd woods that aren't as common: Flaming redwood  and ziricote.

I'm always interested in pretty spalted anything...

Brook :D

I'd like to see some pics, but it's actually quite hard to take accurate pictures of fancy woods. I took a pic of some ziricote gun grips that appear black and dull, while in person they're fascinating. But if you can take decent pics I'm sure you'll be able to find folks willing to take the wood off your hands!

I'd be interested in some large pieces of ziricote, that I could cut up myself for scales.

Here's a teaser pic for you guys till I get some good pix to post!! :D
This is a bunch of wood I keep in the freezer, it's not plugged in and gives me a good place for storage. The top shelf is mostly ziricote. The second shelf has two big blocks of gorgeous mystery wood and other good stuff and some lace wood. I don't remember what's on the other shelves and I'm too lazy to go look! :p
