I have a question for you all.

Is a Schrade Old Timer 1080T a peanut? If it is, I own one. If it isn't, I don't. I've got large hands so don't think I'll ever go any smaller. In fact, I haven't carried it since I got Jani's folder in a G-A-W.

Well, my peanut-less days are quickly coming to an end. I won one of the knives in VMC3's peanut give away and it should be here soon. Thanks to Vince for the give away and I am pumped about finally getting a peanut. Also, today, I bought off of the infamous auction site we all know about, an Amber bone, CV small Texas Jack. This is the knife Flymon has been tempting me with for a good while now - he posts that thing every chance he gets. Anyway, today was a great knife day for TLARbb!!!

Got it yesterday. Here it is with the Texas Jack. Sweet! Thank you, Vince!!

Well I have to confess due to Jackknifes many stories I bought a peanut, a nice cheastnut if I remember. The only issue is it is just to small for me to work with my big hands. But I have bought and gifted others.

No, this is a small Stockman. I have one of these as well, and have carried it often. It is about the same size and thickness as a Peanut, but with the three blades, it actually is more versatile. It is a great, tough, and sharp little workhorse, just like the Peanut.

who here does not have a peanut?

Come on, fess up and don't make me break out the rubber chicken!
:D

Oh, and if you do have one, feel free to post some peanut porn.

Thanks to Vince, my first response is no longer correct - I now have a peanut, and a darn nice one too! Thanks, Vince.

(Levine's Guide says Craftsman knives were made by Camillus, Schrade and Ulster - anyone know who made this one?)

Carl, I don't have a Peanut. I "stole" the above image from an earlier post to show why ..... the almost non-existent nail nick. No intent to dis your knife Ekalb2000, but it just captures what I didn't like about the Peanut I had.

I don't mind the size of the Peanut at all - I actually carry a smaller knife in my watchpocket - a Case Tiny Wharncliffe Trapper, that comes in at 2 7/16".

But between the super-small nail nick, and IIRC half-stops, I just never got comfortable opening the knife.

I don't have a Case peanut anymore (at one point I had 3) but have a Queen reverse one. To be honest I only carry her when I wear fancy clothes...if wedding and funeral attire could be considered fancy lol.

Johnny, that is a fine lookin' Peanut - and I like your post #100 in this thread about using it while helping your Uncle!

Now, I just posted a little bit ago about the horrible nail nick I had on my Peanut - looked exactly like the one in that pic. Your 'Nut looks like it has a much better nick. (I understand that lighting, camera angle, etc. can change perceptions, but still .....)

I don't mean to side-track your thread here Carl; it's just that I'd really like to own a Case Peanut - kinda as a way of honoring you and your Father. I may have to look around some more and see if I can find one with a good lookin' nick on it. ;)

Sorry to go off-topic here.

Keith, what models have you looked at? I
'm asking because I also had a brown, jigged delrin Peanut (my favorite Peanut, for some reason), and it had a decent nail nick as well. Maybe some styles have a shallower nail nick then others?
I agree with you, though. Don't get one if the nail nick is too shallow for your nails. Could become a safety issue. These little guys have a snap like a bear trap. When they shut, they SHUT.

Yellow CV, Johnny. I think it might have been NIB from a few years ago, not current production. ;)

(I'm going to start a new thread about Peanuts so as not to side-track this thread anymore).

I have a few Peanuts. I really like the pattern, and have carried various 'nuts off and on over the years. The lower yella handled one with the pin crack was my wife's edc for years. I confiscated it from her when I realized she had been mistreating it, and replaced it with a SAK. She had been sharpening the blades with an orbital sander! No worries, it cleaned up just fine.

Please disregard the other knives on the top and right.
