I have a question for you all.

no peanuts for me.

i do have a mini stockman but i never use it. it's so teeny. i just don't get it.

I was peanut-less for 43 years, and then last month I finally made the stretch and got one delivered. After all this time and about 25 or 30 Case knives already in the collect-o' bin, I have seen the light. This is a particularly good omen for me which I liken to good change in life as we are moving from SoCal to central TX, and the knife purchased came from TX. So the new leaf sprouts with a new red bone pocket worn Case. I have been loading and packing and made one round trip out to Austin with half of our bobbles with the new red bone Peanut jack doing all my cutlery deeds on a daily basis. Grilling steaks, cutting boxes, tape and rope, finger nails, you know... all the knife guy things..... haven't missed my remuda too much yet(they are all safe in TX in my new home) although I do have a SAK with magnifyer, and trusty Buck 112 handy in my shooting/travel ditty bag and a Gladstone MSA jumbo redbone stockman is also at hand when needed......so far the lil' peanut does big work for me and shines a fresh start in the heartland :)

I have some. CASE Bonestag, Antique Bone, Crandall. An Old Queen Cutlery in brownish bone and a Rough Rider in green jigged with completely sunken joints.

Thing is, got to confess, I've gone off them rather:eek: Horror:eek: I should re-home them:D
I much prefer a small single spring knife such as the Pen or a broad handled small knife such as the GEC 25. All part of the interesting learning curve of knives, plenty others will take a different route and that's good too:thumbup:

I had a Case bonestag....too small for my mitts....passed it on. I still have a small Queen in winterbottom bone, but it remains unused and neglected. A terrible admission I know.

Here is my well used Case Bonestag Peanut. As you can see by the handles, not a lot of the "burnt" affect to make it look like stag left. Soon it's just going to be a Bone Peanut. LOL:

Anyone gotten the new September 2010 Knife World issue yet? Members of the "cult of the peanut" will enjoy the editorial cartoon :D.

And a very fine bone peanut it is. I like the character it has taken riding in your pocket.

Thank you sir. This little guy has done it all for me. Not a single task that has been asked of it has been denied. At one time, I told my self, in the spirit of the samurai of old, that I wanted to master this knife. I wanted to see if I could figure out how to use it for ALL my cutting needs, no matter how big or small. So, I carried it and used it for everything, from skinning large animals, to fine, detailed work. I used it to cut up food, and to break down boxes. I used it to cut down small trees, and to do repairs around the house. I have used it to cut sheet rock, as well as spare ribs. Thick rope, rubber hoses, twine, paper coupons, you name it. Not all of the tasks were what it was designed to do, of course, and I wouldn't recommend anyone else do what I did with it. For me it was more of an experiment to see how far I could push it.
Well, like I said, it withstood all I gave it, and is still going strong. I am far from having "mastered" my use of this knife, as my quest was side tracked for a few years, but I think I am back on the road to mastery. You never know when tragedy will strike, and usually it happens when you least expect it, leaving you to deal with things with only what you have on your person. I want to know I can handle anything, or figure out how to handle anything, with my EDC. This little guy can handle big chores and laugh at them. I love me some nuts!!!.

No Peanut here either. It's not that I don't like them,I just prefer Stockmans and Muskrats. Jim

You've really imparted some nice character into that peanut.:thumbup::thumbup:

Is it just the light, or is that a patina on the blades? From the angle of the pics, it looks like CV with a patina, but it could be reflection of background. My own bone stag is True Sharp, so it may be the reflection. How's your yellow 'nut doing?

No, it's an SS Bonestag, JK. The angle of the picture, and the reflection of the camera on the blades is making it look like there's a patina. It is shiny SS. Like I said previously, the handles have lost a lot of the burned affect, which make it look like a bonestag, but a bonestag it is.

During the peanut craze a while back I didn't have one so I went to the big auction and picked up this Camillus.

I don't have any peanuts yet. They are a bit small for my hands. All my knives get used. I like to have good control of the handle when I use them and the peanuts handle is just too small for me to get a good grip on it for cutting.

Right now the smallest knives I have are a pocket hunter(too small for me to use), and a Schrade 120t. The Schrade is pretty small, just about peanut size I think.

Does this count for a peanut?

Ahhhhh the nut... My grandfather was an avid collector of Case Peanuts, but sadly he only gave be one before he passed away. One Christmas many years ago he gave me both a peanut and a copperhead in imitation ivory. I can not bring myself to carry either one for fear of losing one. I have never really lost a knife but boy would it break me heart to lose one of them. My grandmother told me that I would end up getting much of his collection eventually so Peanuts will be easy to come by and I will carry one of them. But those two he gave me are my only true safe queens. I have gotten really used to having a warncliff or sheepsfoot blade. I have been contemplating a copperhead with the warncliff blade for some time now though so I guess its time to jump. Gee thanks Carl. :)
