I have my first Spyderco on the way!

The PM2 is a fine knife, but it's far from a favorite for me. Im not a fan of the compression lock. I have large hands and when I flick it open my hand is in a spot where it gets slightly pinched. I can see why people love the knife, but it's just not for me.

My hand gets pinched by the lock when flipping open too sometimes. But deal with the pain cause love the placement and function of the lock so much. Also the one i have the lock is a little sticky but doesn't bother me and can't really complain since got it for $80 barely used.:)

I have 17 Benchmades and I too have recently started down the Spyderco road.

I like them a lot. I really like the people and story behind Spyderco.

One thing that first drew me to BenchMade was they are made in the US. Don't be afraid of Spyderco's off shore offerings. They are very nice as well.

I'm kind of like the OP but in reverse, I have several Spydercos and love them but haven't owned a BM yet. I really like the Spyderhole for opening, that paired with the Axis lock is an interesting configuration.

This is a very good point, in fact some of the best (and most expensive) Spydercos are made in Taiwan (Tai Chung). Even their China made knives are pretty good, they actually hold their manufacturers to solid QC standards, unlike some others (cough Gerber).

You're in luck. They make for a great combination.

My first serious knife was a BM Grip. The next knife I bought was nearly two years later and it was a Spydy. I have since bought two more Spydercos and I may not ever purchase another BM. It seems like you get a much better bang for your buck with Spyderco. My Sage 1 is such an awesome EDC.

I also started getting Benchmades as my first high level locking folders. I started to buy some Spydercos and bought a few more interesting Benchmades along the way . Now I buy mostly Spydercos with an occ ZT, or a very high level knife ( a Crk and a Strider). I don t know if that makes me a Spyderco convert, but I definitely think they are the best valuee in the market for my purposes. I love how they give you the opportunity to use high grade steels.

I have way more Kershaws and Benchmades ( and others!) than I need but the other day I sharpened a couple o Delicas for a friend and thought Hmmmmmm? Still the ugliest knives made but they do have a certain nice feel to them! So today I ordered an Endura!,,,, supposed to be here on Wed.We shall see I suppose! :-)

Cancel your order while their is still time!

My original purchase fell through. BUT I just made a deal tonight on a new PM2! So I again have my first Spyderco on the way!

I might have a bias for Spyderco. I have been carrying them since the 80s. I haven't bought a Benchmade since the first Stryker came out. Funny the one Benchmade that I'm interested in right now is the Onslaught, which looks very much like a Spyderco. LOL

Congrats on the new PM2. I don't have a need for anything more than a PM2. If I do I take a fixed blade.

I went from 5 Benchmades and 0 Spydies to 2 Benchmades (530 and 162) and 7 Spydies. I'm hooked.

I agree 100%

Update:

I got the PM2 and immediately put it up for sale. Wasn't a fan at first just by the looks but the more I played with the compression lock and the knife the more I loved it.

Wait. I'm not sure I understand. You got it, didn't like it, put it up for sale, played with it a bit more, then fell in love with it?

If that's the story, it reads verbatim like mine. Bought it, seriously thought it was overrated, almost traded it to a friend, carried it 'one last time', and now one of my go-to carry's.

That's kind of funny.
