I have my first Spyderco on the way!

Wait. I'm not sure I understand. You got it, didn't like it, put it up for sale, played with it a bit more, then fell in love with it?

If that's the story, it reads verbatim like mine. Bought it, seriously thought it was overrated, almost traded it to a friend, carried it 'one last time', and now one of my go-to carry's.

That's kind of funny.

Pretty much. I was looking for something that wasn't as "bulky" as a lot of the Benchmade's I've been carrying and decided to try a Spyderco. The knife didn't feel great to me at first and I thought it looked pretty hideous. I put it in the box, posted it for sale, and was pretty disappointed. I then talked to a buddy who carries Spyderco and he encouraged me to handle it some more and carry it a day or so. I did and I've gotta say; It's everything I was hoping for. Still looks odd to me but I am really digging it.

Yes sir. It's the same old story different day. :) That happened to MANY of us. I think when something is built solely for functionality with a disregard for modern style and aesthetics it can look a bit odd at first. What always happens with spyderco though is the moment you start to carry and use them, you "get it". And once you get it they become beautiful...both functionally and aesthetically.

I have heard from countless guys who carried and loved "brand x" for years and after trying a spyderco they sold off everything and only carried spydies. I have never met a person who carried and loved spyderco and after trying "brand x" they sold off all their spydies. Just doesn't happen. Interesting. :)

And yeah, I'm probably a fanboy, but that doesn't make it not true. ;)
