I hope you're all happy (Moras inbound)

Its dark and raining (but kgd knows that:p). I don't have a light box and realy like taking photos outside in natural light. For now, Here's two shots. One with flash. The lighters are included for scale and color.

I can't wait to use these. The Orange Stainless Clipper is going to be my dedicated boat/canoe knife.

Thanks again all,

Chris

Those cobblers looks like they would be fun to mod. I know I saw other's do their mods. On thing that worked well for my necker is a double wrap piece of brown leather cordage. Very nice feel on the hands, grippy but soft and looks good with a scandi grind.

Good score! What are those two handle-less blades?

Those are the Cobblers blades from Ragweed Forge. They're carbon steel, 3.25" blades w/5" handles and pretty thin. About 3/32". Cost $7.50 ea.

You can find them on the knife blades and kits page.

EDIT: I'm getting slow on the keyboard. You found 'em before I could measure them and finish my post :p.

Cobbler blade from Ragnar 7.50 ea. Best deal.

Wonderful blade, modified on simple 1 inch belt sander and grinding wheel. Two pieces of whitetail antler, bolster is smushed 7.62x54r brass. Scribing just scratches in antler and stained.

Have fun. Some great possibilities there.

I need a couple of cobblers, I was thinking of making a knife handle from sculpy, making a mold of my hand, those would be perfect.

Very nice Kismet! Looks like a good grip.

Its still raining like mad here so I can't get any better pics. I took one of the Cobblers out to the garage.

Step 1:

Shorten handle and reshape tang.

These blades are pretty hard. Next step will be replacing the lanyard hole. I think I'm going pinless with just a stainless tube for a lanyard. I'll be putting the slabs on with some 3M epoxy panel bond. It has a plastic media (very small beads) in it to insure the correct film thickness when using. If all goes well, it'll act as both epoxy and give the appearance of black spacers.

Not sure what to use for slabs yet. I'd like to go super cheap and recycle some materials. Just to see how low-buck I can keep this one.

Nice shaping job, Rupestris. I'd like to hear how the drilling goes: what type of bit, speed used, bit lubricant, problems encountered, etc.
