i just lucked out on a heck of a deal!!!!

Gah! Where is your spirit, lol
We love scars, Oh yes, and that good old blood quench. hehe..
Seriously though, yeah I'd get a neighbur, the guy that delivered mine thought he was clever carrying mine solely...but I'm sure he's feeling it now

I still dont know how I would get it out of my car.

Block and tackle?

Engine hoist and chain?

Or some sort of pivot pole. Look at this picture:

Now if you were to use a tripod instead of just an upright, and make it so the top not only pivoted but swiveled, you could lift the anvil out of the car, and then swivel it around to its next resting place.

A base something like this:

but the top would have to allow the pole to pivot up and down and also swivel around in a circle.

i would have to put the anvil in my back seat and even then i wont be able to get it out by myself. i know a few people who i can get to help me.

i might actually just borrow moms truck and have a friend or neighbor come by to help me lift it out. if i have to i will use the tripod system. or hope i can find a buddy with an engine hoist. HEHEHE!!!! i have a buddy who has picked up the front end of a car and swung it to get it out of the road so im sure he could help me with this. that is if he can find the time. he owns a bar so hes pretty busy.

Jacob, For a 265# anvil you will need to put it in a truck bed (put down a sheet of plywood first). It will take three good strong guys to do it.
Another good way to get it delivered is by a tow truck. Just roll it out on a dolly and wrap chains around it and away it goes. I have moved 2 ton safes this way.
You have some buddies at the car places ,I believe you said. One of them has to know a guy with a truck.

slide a heavy 2 x 12 into the back seat, leaving it (the board) as far out as you can. l somehow get the anvil up on that (with outter bracing, bricks, etc underneath) and slide it in the car. Reverse it to get the anvil out. Place the board on the anvil stand, slide it out and to the stand. Anything, and everything can/could go wrong, Murphy will be right by your side, so take it slow and deliberate.

Jacob:

If it doesn't work out for you with your bike sale, and if it isn't sold Wednesday, I would like a chance at the anvil. I'm in New Braunfels and can pick it up but would need some help also. Would you be up for it? I'm sure we could work something out for your compensation.

6-pack of guinness will work nicely along with gas. HEHEHEHE!!!

if that anvil does sell and i do sell my bike i will just use the money for other things in my shop. i do need guards and pommels. :D

sell the gun that has no sentimental value-its alot easier to replace a nice gun, than to find a nice anvil local with no shipping cost at a great price. I
searched 2 years and didnt buy a anvil that nice and i live in the midwest.
good luck. bb

my shotgun isnt worth that much money. beside i only own the two guns. i go dove hunting with the shotgun and deer hunting with the rifle. both have sentimental value to me. especially my rifle since it was given to me by my grandfather who passed away in december and hes also the one who took me hunting for dove since i was 10 years old. i couldnt and wouldnt sell either of the two. id rather sell my bikes than to sell my guns. id even sell this laptop with monitor before the guns.

and then make sure an old lady doesn't make you slam your brakes on going 50MPH down the road

get Nick to put it in for you he can to it himself:thumbup:
Jacob can carry the cord.. oh that's not a putter is it  :D

Stacy, now listen to this. I brought my 300# Fisher home in the truck of my Town Car (Drag'g Ass) and then I had my Bro next door come over and take it out with me. He ask me how much does it weight and I told him I would tell him after we got it out.:D :D

IG, Yeah, sure. But Portuguesa Bikers are the exception. We're talking squee here. If his neighbor could handle half of a 265# anvil, the two of them ought to be able to lift a 175#.

When I put the 400# on its base, I couldn't quite get it on by myself, so I had my daughter come over and help.
Stacy

ive got some bad news. i went into town to get a couple packs of smokes and checked on the anvil and the lady said that the guy had come in not long after i left and paid for it. i left my name and number with them so they can let me have first dibs on the next anvil that comes in that is 100+ pounds. its such a sad say for me. such a sad day indeed.

It shouldn't be a sad day for you because you didn't "luck out on a heck of a deal" in the first place. You knew the anvil was sold to someone else when you first saw it. You've got a lot of growing up to do before you learn about life and disappointment. At least you still have your bicycle.

i still have it up for bid on ebay. i can just use the money to buy a few needed supplies. handles, guards, belts, pommels, and a few other things. my knife im making now is a hidden tang and i need a good sized handle for it. also need a guard for it.
