I would actually recommend a toaster oven for kydex forming instead of a kiln because it heats up and cools off fast and the metal in the toaster oven does not retain heat like the firebrick does. Personally i think it would be less likely for your kydex to melt because the toaster oven turns off and off. Not to mention you can get one for CHEAP and if you get crap all over it no biggy.
