I just talked to Drew

Basically, his explanation is the same as when he posted in Feb. He has been overwhelmed with work and is unable to go to his shop in Sharon. He does regret his procrastination. he has no excuse except that he kept thinking he would be able to do it manana. And manana never came.
With his work schedule and distance from his home, he can not guarantee a delivery time for any of the knives he still has. Including mine.
He did ask me to post his phone number for each individual to call him. The number is413-665-4158. I did urge him to get online and inform people.

Knock me over with a feather.
Not only did I get an email from Drew -
he attached a jpg of the mini-AFCK!
I'll post it here shortly...
To say the least - I am most suprised.
The knife appears to be VERY well done.
He said he would mail it out ASAP as soon as he got my address again.

Amazing.

Perhaps I have been too harsh on Drew? I have been the most poisonous here about him.

Get that pic up man...what was done? Do you know if it will still be for sale or not? How much?

Here is the pic - if it doesnt show here - goto my home page.

Yes it will be for sale. I will offer it for sale to a couple friends here in Utah and if they dont want to buy it - I will post it here at Blade Forums and The Firing Line.

What would be a ball park figure for this knife?
I'm just glad this story is coming to an end.

Glad it is just about over.

Drew was selling his for around the $250 ballpark if I remember correctly.

Well, I'd say:

- The cost of the knife new

- The amount you paid Drew

- Put a price on your frusterations

- Add a price for all of Drew's blood, sweat, tears, and worries. (x 1.5 for Overtime)

- Consider how hard it will be for anyone else to enjoy Drew's work for a long while, if ever again.

- Finally, include the fact that this knife shares a part of Drew's soul.

...that baby is damned near priceless, IMO. It's hard to put a price on a personal peice like this...it just wasn't meant to be re-sold. Get out of it, what will make you happy man.

Yeah.......what Jackyl said. That's what I meant but he's got a better way of putting it in writing.

Like I said it would be hard for me to part with it.

I can see after rereading everything I have written on this forum...
I am indeed a hard ass and have not been quite fair.

To be honest I am not sure what I should do.
I think however, I owe him an apology...
Maybe I shouldnt sell it - it seems it will be a good reminder of humility.

I don't know, George... after that long with no response, not even knowing whether you're going to see your knife again, much less if the work is going to be done... IMO your response was justified.

George, I'm happy he finished yours and you will soon receive it. I must have misunderstood, I thought Drew said none had been completed. Mine is in pieces, he told me he would pin it back together and send it ASAP. I hope that means soon. But I won't be getting all the mods. But that's ok as long as I get the knife.

Copfish, did you hear from him yet?

I still want him to work on a full size AFCK for me. What is his e-mail adress again?

Good luck 4th., I don't think he'll be accepting any new orders. You might give Frank R. a shot.

George,
You owe no one an apology. I hope when you get the knife it floors you over and you want to keep it however. As a close friend of Drew's I do not think he would mind me saying that your comments were justified.

You are showing a lot of class, though and that is appreciated.

Take care,

Wow, that's a pretty knife... enough so that I'd have a hard time selling it if it was mine.

Gary, I don't know exactly what has been done. I think he said the G-10 scalesl would be put on. It was supposed to have screws instead of pins, an adjustable pivot, jeweled scales. amd a lightened lock so it would open easier. Now all I know is it will be reassembled and sent to me. If it is worth it, I will still send it to you for a sheath.
That's jeweled liners, not scales.

Bill forwared an email from Drew to me, along with a pic of the AlMar SERE folder he has reworked.
Bill asked me to post a pic of the knife for him and I'll let him add commentary on it in a following post. It looks pretty nice, but then Drew does great work.
