Ross, I posted it at the beginning of this thread at Drew's request. Do a search
Nah, here it is again...413-665-4150. I guess your are the last one ow. At least I hope you are.
I wish I had the means to post detailed pics of what Drew did to mine. I bought the SERE as new. The blade rubbed the liners when I got it and it was very hard to open. I put White Lightning on the pivot and worked it about 20 times. No help. I made a slurry of aluminum oxide and pot on it to try to polish it some. No help. I put a one armed bandit on it and tried to flip it open about 20 times. It came a part. The scales sprung loose from the butt almost to the pivot. That is when I sent it to Drew.
Drew did a complete rebuild on it.
He told me that the scales and liner were warped, he had never seen warped micarta scales before. There were scratches running lenghtwise on the blade.
Drew straightened th liners, drilled a series of holes in the to lighten the weight a little, screwed the liners to the back spacer, file worked the liners, screwed G-10 scales to the liners,
fabricated an adjustable piot pin,
buffed out the scratches on the blade and polished the bolsters.
Oh yeah, he lightened the backspring somehow.
The knife weighs probably half of what it did, the action is very smooth, about like my Boker Brend.I am very impressed and very pleased. I believe Al Mar would have been also.
Gary's picture of the sheath does not do it justice either. The pic makes the sheath look like it has some sort of black streaks running down it, it doesn't. The fit is perfect, the boning is perfect. It locks the blade in like Kydex. The stitching is perfect. Gary is a craftman of the old school. I highly recommend him to any and all.
The whole package was worth the wait. I hope everyone is as pleased with theirs as I am.
Best of luck to ya'll who are still waiting.
