To advertise about EBAY auctions and I hope this post doesn't cross the line, but I bought a very neat magnesium fire starter that was delivered yesterday at a very reasonable price. It comes with a round piece of magnesium, a big hunk of ferrocium, a hacksaw striker all in a little leather bag. I am very pleased and think it is a good addition to anyones kit, I am sure with a little searching yall can find them, and no it is not my auction and I don't know the seller but I am very pleased with the product. Chris

This guy owes you a piece of the profits I just ordered one also. It just looked like too good of a deal to pass up. It would be interesting to know how many of these he will sell because of your post.

For some reason I'm not seeing the one Runningboar is talking about, but I'm waiting for this one to show up at my door any day now: http://www.campingsurvival.com/stmak1misufi.html I'll add a piece of hacksaw blade to it like you're saying. I like the regular block ones too, but this one takes up less space and seems to have plenty of mag on it to start lots of fires. (It doesn't take a whole lot)

After I recieved the first one I ordered 2 more, although the first 2 were 6.99 with free shipping. I thought it was too good of a deal not to pass it on.

Oh nice, I had seen them on there before, if they are the same ones.

Considering the standard mil-type mafniesium blocks will run about the same $$$ it looks like a greta deal.

Post pics if you get a chance.

NICE!! that's a decent sized fero-rod too.

$ for $ that is nicer than the regular old mil-style mag&flint bars.
I still like them, but, when you cna get a set up liek this for the same money, well.... Merry Chris-Mas Runningboar!

thanks for the pic.

And yes, the thing about referring goods, I know it's to cut down on people hawking their own auctions, or their friends auctions, but sometimes I see things at AuctionBay that I want to point out, or ask people if they have any info about them.
Is that a forum crime?

IIRC, the guys in the Buck forum post Ebay URL's all the time, so I don't think there's a problem. And also, GibsonFan just did, so, any chance of a URL?

Okay, I may just be old to work the computer right, but I can't find anything like the picture.

Could someone help an old guy and post the address, please?

I think "the boys" must have bought em all!!

In case anyone was interested, I found a supply of different sizes flint/fero rods here:
http://www.campingsurvival.com/flintbar18x2.html

They also have this one, with magnesium, which is pretty reasonable:

add your own blade & pouch to it.

disclaimer; I am in no way affiliated, I just "find" things, here and there while cruising the web.

Here is where I found my "Biggie Sized" Fero-Rod.
Best deal for a "mega" rod. 1/2" dia. x 4" long.

Those are great little kits for the price. I picked one up fro him a couple months ago. I've been wanting to pick another one or two but keep missing out when he lists more :(

I don't know if it's this thread thats driven his sales but yesterday he had approx 20 sets now he's down to 7. I sell on Ebay and for the week before X-mas when money is in short supply and peoples minds are on other things that is amazing.

I am not arguing the point, nor saying it's wrong, or in any way being critical, but, just out of curiosity.....

Why is linking, "deal spotting" , or any of the like frowned upon?

It seems that if people want to they can Email, PM, use code words, or otherwise get around it, if they so chose to?

Just very curious as to the history and reasoning behind this??

Yes, I have read the rules, thoruoghly, and i also moderate a couple of sites, and we've never had this issue.

Hey Skunk, I'm going to guess more than likely it leads to people registering as members to post links to their own websites that sells merchandise. This can also lead to skirting the dealer or other membership requirements for selling stuff.
