I know it is illegal

The idea is the discussion forums are for discussion, where you can go to talk about knives or survival or whatever and not be subjected to advertising. We have over 75,000 users here and more joining every day. If every user who sees something on the net he considers a good deal ran to the discussion forums and posted about it, there would be hundreds of posts shilling things for sale every day to wade through in order to find the posts you want to read....

You can post about almost anything on Bladeforums, you just have to go to the proper forum for it. TGB&U is the place to tell about dealers and deals. The Exchange section is the place to advertise things you have for sale. The Wilderness & Survival Forum is the place to talk about wilderness & survival. You can talk about gear there, but when you want to talk about where to buy gear, come to TGB&U. :)

I don't know if it's this thread thats driven his sales but yesterday he had approx 20 sets now he's down to 7. I sell on Ebay and for the week before X-mas when money is in short supply and peoples minds are on other things that is amazing.

Actually that is NOT amazing considering the cost of comparable products.
If you offer great deals, you can move a lot of merchandise and fast.
If someone posted that CR Sabenza's were going for $100 per unit, they would sell-out regardless.

The assumption that people don't have money, or don't bid at auction sites during the holiday season isn't quite right, each year breaks the previous year's records.

I'd bet every hiker, backpacker, survival-type of person was gawking at those particular products (I never saw them).

But, for a moment, what if the afore-mentioned had happened, and a post on bladeforums HAD, in fact, contributed to a lot of sales?

How is that different than someone doing a review of a knife?
A review of a good person, knifemaker, or place to business with?

Are people allowed to come into Good, Bad and Ugly and post about a product or deal that was made? It's done everyday? right?
Is it that it is confined to only this one place?
I am NOT being sarcastic. just a question, honestly.

I am a moderator, myself, I (and I'm sure others) want to follow the rules.
It's a nice place, and we want to play nice.

Ahhh, OK, good explanation. That is really the first time it has been explained so concisely. It appears that it is more a matter of having it in the right place, I am understanding.

I wasn't complaining I was just surprised that there were that many people reading this post who were buying these myself included. It never occured to me until some of the later post that the original post was or could be a violation of the rules.
As far as auction sales go you are correct auction sales increase every year especially for gift items. But for non gift items for personal use or sales during the week before Xmas when delivery for Xmas is uncertian, those sales are down. I know I generally have less money to spend on myself for non esential items. I don't list items the week before or a couple of weeks after when people are playing catch up with the bills. I do find that I can get some good deals at this time, if I have the money because there are fewer people bidding against me.

I was also unclear about the rules for posting, when you find a deal you just want to share. I completely understand, the mods need to keep "spam" out of the discussion forums. They do a damn good job of that too, incidentally.

Thanks for clearing it up and straightening us out, KV Collucci and CougarAllen. :)
