I know this has been done to death , but I would like to see what "the other guys" are packing.

1. large fixed blade

2. med. fixed blade

3. small fixed blade

4. folder

5. multi-tool

6. axe/hatchet/hawk

7. firestarter

1/2/3 I generally don't bother with a fixed blade even on an extended trip. Might take the original grohman in a flat grind version on a canoe or hunting trip.

4. Folder...Generally a Wegner designed folder from my stash. Lately either the Ocelot or Blade Tech Pro Hunter

5. Often don't bother but on a canoe trip have a Leatherman Supertool in my survival barrell.

6. On short hikes the Gransfors Mini..... On overnights I take two the Forest Axe and small splitter for feeding the wood stove. Hunting I take an old Estwing the soft blade of which won't break on bones.

7. Matches, Lighters, Fire-Steels....and the little Coghlans Metal Match. Something in every bag and several pockets. Usually collect tinder at every opportunity in a plastic bag in my coat pocket too.

North,

I am pretty sure I asked this before, but where did you get the Blade Tech knife? Are they available in Canada?

1. large fixed blade
2. med. fixed blade
3. small fixed blade
4. folder
5. multi-tool
6. axe/hatchet/hawk
7. firestarter
So what are you packin?
1. Schrade Walden 165OT Woodsman - old 1095 carbon steel standby for more than thirty years. I've treated it right and respected it, it it has stood by me through thick and thin. It now sports maple burl scales, and is good for another thirty years.
2. none
3. Schrade 152OT Sharpfinger - old 1095 carbon steel standby as well. A very useful and versitile knife.
4. Schrade Uncle Henry 897UH Premium stockman - Stainless three blades, my EDC and work knife.
5. Camillus or Imperial MIL-K utility four blade - Stainless military version of a boy scout camp knife. I seldom need pliars, toothpicks, tweezers, or files, so this is my version of a SAK.
6. none. I own four, three hatchets and an ax, but only use them here around the farm. One is an Estwing, one True Temper, the others Craftsman.
7.Strike-a-lite kit - Carbon steel striker, flint node. But yes, I am a smoker so my first go-to is the ever-present Bic.

Codger
