Very different and very cool looking! Love when people are so proud of their knives they just have to share!

It's not to my tastes as a knife I would buy and use, but it is certainly a looker. Nice.

I've been interested in that blade in the past. Glad you're loving it and can't wait to see some photos once you've given it a solid beating out in the woods.

Looks like an Ulu raped a WSK.

But at a second glance, I cant see why it shouldnt give good service in some respects.

Good, that you are happy with it.

Pls share what you use it for and exactly why you fell in love with it.

I've been looking at Habilis tools for a while. Great designs imho.

Would love to try one out, esp. The bush tool. Haven't pulled the trigger yet. Enjoy yours, I'm sure it'll put a big smile on your face when using it.

Thanks, everyone!

I haven't been out with it yet (got a trip coming up), but she seems like the perfect outdoor/bushcraft/survival knife for me. I did some cutting, batoning, chopping, and fire-starting tests in the back yard, and I'm very impressed.

The size; the weight; the features(!); the design; the sheath - it all came together in this one (IMHO).

Here are some specs:
• Steel: 1095 high carbon
• Rockwell: 56-58
• Finish: Matte finish, with gun blue
• Handles: G-10
• Hardware: stainless steel
• Overall length: 11-3/4"
• Handle length: 4-3/4"
• Blade overall: 7"
• Cutting edge: 5-1/2"
• Blade thickness: 3/16"

Here's a video review, if anyone's interested:

I was, at first, interested in the BushTool, but then I saw this, and it just called my name. The things that I prefer about this one over the BushTool are the "dogbone" pommel, the size, and (especially) the choil.

I know what you mean about wanting to try one out. I bought mine "blind" (after internet research), but it's even better than I imagined. I liked the SRT so much I bought her little sister, for lighter-duty camp work - the Habilis L.U.C.K.:

This seems like a perfect camping set for me. :D

I think this knife awakened something primal in me; I want to spend all my time out in the wild, now.

Thanks for sharing.

I am interested in hearing more about the stock thickness and grind. Is that a full thickness stock, with only a scandic grind on the edge, or is there a primary grind I am not seeing in the pictures.

By the power invested in me, I now pronounce you husband and knife. You may now cut with your bride.

I hope you will be very happy together for many years to come. :)

Ironically enough, knives tend to last longer than most marriages, and they prove to be a more loyal and valuable companion than most spouses. Sure, a knife will cost a bit of money up front, and it might want some new handles or a fancy new sheath, but a knife won't spend anywhere near what a human spouse will spend.

And yeah, a knife might give you a bit of a nick once in awhile, but they will inflict nowhere near the level of pain that a spouse can inflict.

And if you ever get tired of a knife and want to part with it, or if another knife catches your eye and you feel like a change, a knife won't take half your money and half of everything you own.

:D

Actually, the scandi grind you see is the primary grind, and there is a secondary bevel at the edge. Habilis calls it a "pseudo-scandi grind: scandi-vex style grind, with secondary bevel". Before the grind, it is full thickness (3/16").

Dang, the majority of the blade is a full 3/16 thick? You could drive a tractor over it and not hurt it.

Which do you favor, the big one or the little one? How much do they weigh? Would you please show a picture of the point straight down on top of the spine? I hate too meaty of a point. I am really interested in this blade. It comes across as just about the right size I've been looking for for a camping knife. I love that it's 1095 too.
