I lost a friend and my woodsman Icon.

God bless you and your family in this difficult time It seems like just the other day when I got the news that my Dad was Gone. I was in the Navy and someone woke me up in the night and told me to go to the Chaplin s office right away. Thats not the kind of thing you want to hear in the middle of the night( or anytime) Anyway I knew it could not be good news and when you are far from home it makes it even harder.

We can thank god that we HAD a loving parent and that we had the time with them that was allowed us. I will be happy if I become half the man that my dad was. All we can do is carry on as they would liked to have seen us do.

Sorry for your loss.

I lost mine last March.

Lung cancer and he never smoked a day in his life.

Raised 7 of us. 5 boys. I am the only outdoorsman and he was unable to teach me anything about the outdoors because he grew up in the city, but he always took me out to go hunting and dropped me off at the trailhead and picked me up at the back end when I was backpacking the AT or just going out to camp.

Anyway, the loss will always be there, but so will he because part of him is left behind in you.

My condolences valcas1. Your father will live on in your heart and cherish that he instilled in you a love for what he loved. Perhaps you can preserve that memory further and teach the next generation about thing things both you and your father loved.

Take care.

God Speed my friend. Me and my family will say a prayer for you in your time of loss.

I know how you feel. I lost my dad a year ago to cancer. I will say a prayer for you and yours.

I'm truly sorry to hear of your loss. I can not imagine the pain felt from losing my father. I hope all the best to you and your family.

Condolences man. Your father will be with you on the trail, as you set out on the bay he loved, as you set the decoys, with the sunrise. I hope you pass some of him on to your children too. Sorry for your loss. Time and tide.

.....Now my purpose is to carry his torch and his lagacy. To teach my children to appreciate the beautiful world we have been gifted.......

There is no finer tribute. The fact that it was already in your heart to honor him in this manner says that he did a good job in preparing you to do a good job in preparing your children.

Our thoughts are with you.

I feel for your loss. You have had a great gift of such a father as you describe, carry on the legacy with your children.

My heart goes out to you. Smoke and prayers just sent.
Honor him by passing on the lessons and skills.
