I am wondering if there is much of a difference between CRKT M16 (previous EDC) and the Bennchmade Adamas (full size)?
Trying to find side by side comparisons between these two knives. For size comparison so I have an idea of any differences if any.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Looking at,
CRKT M16®-04DB (Similar to previous EDC)
or
Benchmade Adamas 275FE-2

Welcome to BF! :)

I've never owned a CRKT M16, but I've owned a couple versions of the Adamas and multiple knives from both brands. Every Benchmade I've owned was better made than every CRKT I've owned, with better tolerances, fit, finish, and materials. I would expect that to hold true in this comparison, as well.

The Adamas uses a more premium steel. Weight and blade length are darned close. Assisted flipper vs. manual Axis lock is also a biggie, and more of a personal preference; ditto Deadbolt vs. Axis lock. I'd take the Adamas any day (and twice on Sundays).

Hopefully someone who owns both will be able to provide a comparison photo.

Adamas.

I've owned 20+ CRKT knives. Some of them do not get sharp, and it's not specific models, it's a random example from across their entire lineup. There's no way to tell until you try to sharpen it.

The Adamas is a great tank, but the full size is a brute. Long blade that is also wide and overbuilt. It's a pocketful. I tend to gravitate toward larger knives and I really like my Adamas Auto.

However, I just picked up a Mini a week back. It's one of those "little" knives that over performs for its size. Not a drop it in your pocket and forget about it kind of office knife, but if you are looking for a knife that is easier to carry than a full size that won't freak people out yet can do a hard day's work with ease, I'd look into it.

Sorry you lost your knife!! That sux!! Crappy feeling...However, it has given you the opportunity to expand....
A Benchmade will be leaps and bounds better in quality than CRKT.
Jump on it and enjoy the adamas!!!!! Real comfy.in the hand too. I was fondling one two weeks ago!!
Good luck n get a.tight pocket clip!!!!

Welcome to BladeForums.

Oof. I would take the BM over the CRKT any day of the week. I'm hesitant to recommend CRKT to anyone.

I had to google the CRKT. At that price point ($140ish), I think you can do better.

Have you looked at the Cold Steel Recon 1? Similar size knife, G10 scales, the great Demko tri-ad lock, and S35VN steel for a few dollars less then the CRKT.

Nothing wrong with the Adamas, just suggesting another great knife to help you save a few dollars.

Get the adamas. Thank us later. I love mine, seems like it wouldn't cut well because of the thickness of the blade and low grind height, but it glides through cardboard with no issues.

I was thinking of posting this same suggestion.

The Recon 1 is one of the strongest folders on the market, yet thin and light enough to carry easily. And the price makes it a steal.

I really like the Benchmade! But not too far off check out the ritter or even the deka. The deka is super light and 20CV

I have some EARLY CRKT ... And they seem fine ...
Including the M16 ... Cant speak for current production knives ..
But back when I got mine , they were I guess a Budget Offering ?

Certainly the prices have gone up , and folks are saying the quality is not matching the asking prices ?

The only two CRKT knives that I've really liked were the Provoke and the Ritual. Some of the others I've liked the design a lot more than the materials. CRKT are good at working with innovative knife designers.

With the exception of the Mini Bugout, I've liked all of the Benchmade knives I've purchased. The Adamas is a good beast, but if you need a slicier, hard working knife it's hard to go wrong with the Griptilian.

In its early years, CRKT produced some quality budget friendly knives. Unfortunately, the brand succumbed to it's budget focus rather than holding onto their original quality standards.
I won't speak to the Adamas, as that particular knife never appealed to me; but I'll echo the sentiments stated above - BM over CRKT without hesitation.
That said, I'm also in agreement with the recommendation of the Hogue Ritter...awesome knife for the money. I liked it so much that I bought the mini, as well - and I didn't like small knives at the time

CRKT has some fun designs but they often use lousy materials and have questionable QC.

I dislike Benchmade as a company but they put out a much better product.

I'd take D DMG 's advice and look at the Hogue Ritter or possibly the Hogue Deka. Aside from issues with Benchmade as a company, Hogue arguably offers better quality. You might also spend some time window-shopping at BladeHQ. If you want a fairly sturdy flipper with holes in the handle, check out the recently discontinued Kizer Guru. Remaining stock can be had for around $100. The materials and overall quality are an astronomical improvement over CRKT.

I can see more Kizer in my future if knife No2 pans out . ( Tests ok )
