Recommendation? I Lost my EDC. Looking at another CRKT or Treating myself to a Benchmade... Thoughts?

what i didnt like about the full size adams was that the blade was so heavy it made the detent action weak and the blade would easily come out of the handle

I cut the bejeezus out of my pinky finger a couple months ago due to this...kinda. I have an Auto, but I didn't carry it with the safety engaged. The combination of the "light trigger" of the Axis lock and the lack of a positive detent resulted in it coming open in my pocket about 1/8 of the way. Reached in...ouch and blood and 9 stiches and a ridiculous Dr bill.

I dont blame the knife. Had I used the lock, it wouldn't have happened. Love everything else about it. That said, I do find the temptation to make the knife loose enough to fidget with a bit of a potential danger for me. When I bought my Mini, I gave the pivot just a bit if a snug. It still opens like buh-duh, but I don't keep it drop-shut loose just because I am a little gun shy of it popping open. Doesn't bother me a bit, though. I prefer the knife blade to be tight with no wiggle over a high fidget factor.

I do think the BM offers a really high degree of customizable dial-in to fit your needs. I like to keep mine tighter, some like the clicky-clack. Both levels of tightness result in a well centered blade with solid lock up.

Thank you all for your input and time. Lots of great suggestions and thoughts (and opinions). Ended up ordering a Benchmade Crooked River. Couldn’t get the Adamas shipped to Canada. It’s coming through my local Matco dealer.

I had this happen with a Leek once. There was a little slop before the assist engaged. It was just enough for the tip to lean out if the safety wasn't engaged. Coincidentally, catching a finger moving in that direction will move it both into your finger and enough to engage the assist. 😬
