I Love Spyderco So Much That I...

Spyderco fans seem to be extremely loyal, about as loyal as any of the fan groups on these forums.

Let me make a suggestion, whatever you do don't ever buy a Benchmade.

I am guessing that you haven't used an M390 Benchmade 710? Other manufacturers make some fine knives too, but all that I am saying is that 9 times out of 10, I reach for one of my Spydercos. They are quite simply some of the consistently best made knives that I own.

Dorito - Thanks, When I Get It, I'll Post It.
Ol_SC - I Don't Use A Program, I Hit The Shift Button Every Time.
BD - I've Owned Many Good Knives, Benchmades, ZTs, Kershaws, Bradleys, Etc. But I Always Come To Spyderco.
I Agree Spyderco Is Just My Favorite.
And APF, I Agree, Other Brands Make Excellent Knives As Well, But Spyderco Just Wins Me Over, Time And Time Again.

WOW!!! I have collected a lot of knives and just received my ZT560 today. It is ok, but nothing special. I keep going back to my Para Military 2. Spyderco just does it right!!!!! Excellent fit and finishes, blade grinds, metals, and overall quality. I do love my Henderer's!! Spyderco is quickly winning its way to the top for me. I am not knocking any other knives out there, this is just my humble opinion.

I've Been A Knife Lover Since About Age 17...
And I've Collected Many.
Cheapos
Benchmades
Zero Tolerances
Kershaws
CRKT
Many Many Many Brands And Many Many Many Knives.

But Spyderco, I've Decided, Is My Brand Lol.

Count me in. The irony is, when I first got into knives I liked all the big names EXCEPT Spyderco, of course I knew nothing of them.
VG-10 US made Resilience please!

I Would Prefer A:
Blue G-10
Titanium Frame Lock
s35vn
Resilience.

I Think That Would Be AMAZING. Lol.

It'd Knock The Price Up By About $60 But That's Okay Lol.

My Resilience Is Riding In My Back Pocket.

I Wonder If I Could Have It Modded Into Something Really Interesting.

My comment was a bit tongue in cheek but I decided since this was the Spyderco forum I shouldn't try to make too much trouble. I own one Spyderco, a Goddard that I bought many years ago. But after that I found knives with linerlocks so I was happy to move away from lockbacks and I've never looked back. I do own a lot of Benchmades and my comment would have been that if a person tried Benchmade then they would start collecting only them. Of course I'm sure that the ZT and CRK fans would say the same thing about their knives.

Well I've been noticing all of the fans of the PM II and even though the shape of the blade is a bit strange looking to me, the use of the knife is more important so I've started researching the current Spyderco offerings to bring myself up to date. I'm still not interested in lockbacks but I find that the PM II, Manix 2 and Tenacious have the characteristics that I like. I haven't quite figured out how you operate the compression lock* but I've decided that I should try one. So I should offer thanks to you guys (NOT!) for forcing me to spend another $100+ on my addiction.

*(I know how the compression lock operates to lock the blade, but I'm not sure about the procedure for how you manipulate it with your fingers. I'm used to liner locks and axis locks so I can manipulate them easily with my fingers, but I can't visualize how to manipulate the lock and close the blade.)

It's Like A Liner Lock On The Back Of The Knife.
You Just Push It Over With Your Thumb.
It's A Really Simple Lock.

And I Would Say Get The Para2.
Oh, And You're Welcome. =]

So you are holding the knife in your palm between 2 or 3 fingertips and the heel of your hand, push the lock with your thumb, close the blade with index finger? I do essentially the same thing with a liner lock except the thumb is also acting to hold the knife in your hand.

With your thumb? Maybe if youre left handed. I hold mine with the blade down between my thumb and middle finger and compress the lock with my pointer finger and let the blade fall closed. the best fast, one-handed locking system IMO

wow powernoodle!! that is awesome! i just got my fisrt spyderco about a week ago and wow are they nice! There are so many that i want now its overwhelming...

Exactly. As easy as an axis lock.

Oh, And I'm Right Handed Lol.
Yeah I Made This Decision Recently And Have A Few More I Need To Get Rid Of That Aren't Spyderco Lol.

BladeChick777, I believe you are really gonna like that Chokwe. It's very well made, feels better in the hand than it's looks would make you think. It's also one of the better slicers and cutters Spyderco makes which is amazing considering that is Spyderco's specialty.

The other slicers extrordinairre in the line would be the calys, caly jr.s ( especially in ZDP, and Caly 3.5 in Super Blue steel ( non stainless high carbon tungsten alloy steel made for high end japanese chefs cutlery).

The Stretch in ZDP also has my vote as a very special knife both in cutting abilities but also ergonomics.

Some are expensive, and discoed or sprints and therefore difficult to find but to me they represent Spyderco as a company. Well made, ergonomic knives that excell at cutting and slicing and can outperform some highly regarded $500 semi customs easily in that regard while costing between $75 to $200.

I Know What You Mean About Having Different Ones For Different Uses And Situations.
I Think Spyderco Are Just The Best Folders I've Ever Owned Personally.
I've Never Owned Anything Like A CRK Or Anything, But Out Of What I Have Own, Nothing Beats Spyderco.
I Do Want To Add A Sage And Possibly A GB As Well.

Sounds like you like blue so hear is some motivation for a sage 3:
