Nothing a little super glue and duct tape won't fix!!!!. . .
Super glue does not seem like a feasible 'fix'. It has fairly good tensile strength, but would not withstand any kind of lateral, shearing pressure. You really need to rethink this suggetion.
Duct tape does seem reasonable for repairing the handles. The handles probably wouldn't have fallen off if the OP had duct taped them prior to his hammer 'test.' I'm just sayin' that an ounce of prevention saves Fed Ex charges.
But the super glue idea is just plain stupid. I'm kinda surprised.
Everyone knows that you use JB weld to fix your tools....
