I made a mistake and want the community to observe as I work to fix it.

I want the knife community to observe this to help provide peace of mind to Silverband.

I recently sold a knife to Silverband.

He did not not like it. I offered a refund.
He shipped the knife back.

I got it. I went to do a refund and refunded money to another bladeforum member by mistake.
I do not at this second have a additional money to do another refund.

I have asked for the refund issued in error back. No matter what I will pay silverband right after payday even If I don't get my money back. Not his fault I goofed up.

I wrote Silver band and said this to him:

Dave,

I have made a huge error.

I refunded the money to the wrong guy. I refunded to a guy named Kip who bought the Sebbie in the
same sales add.

I have asked for him to return my money ASAP. But pay pal and being at his mercy introduces some lag time.

YOU WILL BE PAID. Full disclosure.

I live at xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

My Cell is 831-xxx-xxxx I will stick with you until this is settled.
You will be paid even if he does not return my money. But you will need to wait until payday. Last day of the month.

I email you about this as well I also included screen shots of my screw up with paypal.
I will not let you down and I will open a thread in the good bad and ugly forum so the entire community can monitor
with complete transparancy as I work to resolve this.

I am sorry for any concern or upsaet my mistake has cause you.

Well, it looks like you are actively working to resolve it as quickly as possible. I'm not sure there is much more you can do at this point.

Other than complete openness and asking thew guy that got the refund by mistake to chime in here.... I can't wait to get this behind me.
 
I got the refund by mistake. It has a hold on it from paypal until the 29th. I will gladly resend the money at that time. I hope that is ok with the other guy.....
 
I believe you are handling this the best way possiable! Everyone screws up form time to time! You sound like a stand up guy to me!
Remember Guys; This is All JUST STUFF! You can't take it with you when you are gone from this world!
 
As a person who has recently had a issue posted here go bad I would like you to know that I feel like you couldn`t have handled this problem any better . Good for you for posting this thread and being so open about your mistake ,I am sure you will fix the issue soon enough for the buyer .Thank you.

yes, i am disappointed.

i read the entire thread, and have not found anyone who i should put on the paynomindlist.
 
You are not the first to make a mistake nor will you be the last. You've set a nice example on dealing with the mistakes when they come.
 
Yes, an unusual thread indeed, but not an unpleasant one I'm glad to see. Any member that is willing to stand up infront of the community to resolve an issue is a member worth having here.
