I may be sinning here

Jokes about anyone, anywhere, or anything is fair game in RAT forums....as long as you can handle it when it comes back your way.....I can handle the Texas jokes and hell i might tell a few....I am a cajun texan, if that ain't a focked up mix i don't know what is.....that being said most of the members here can take it as much as they give.....if you can't take it you probably ought to move along or hang around with hurt feelings all the time.....

Damn is everyone drunk this morning?

It feels like it. Hit up the gas station last night as the Washington State Liquor Control Board decides to close the booze stores pretty early (latest I have seen was 10PM.) I am still feeling it today. Plus I still need to drive up to Seattle in a couple of hours.

As per the Sebenza: It is sexy but I can see why you said what you said. But of course you are tying to bash another company....I can see it. Bringing down the competition one by one. I mean everything I have read and heard about Chris Reeve is that he a horrible person and makes horrible knives. I don't think I ever want one of his knives ever, I mean you can send me one of his knives (as long as YOU pay for it) and I might reluctantly take care of it for the next 15-20 years.... :p

PS: Since only the WSLCB stores only can sell booze I bought some cheap beer...VERY cheap beer. I shall never do that again. I should stick to what I normally drink. Dog Fish Head, Deschutes, Stone, Sierra Nevada, Elysian, etc, etc, etc.

Gosh no more Champagne... (9 euros the bottle is not a real sin, and our local champagne got much less sugar than the export one... so no headache!)
Oh there is a Sebenza in my Glass !!!

Hey you speak french !!!
I'm a huge fan of Daniel Lanois and his album "Acadie" is one of my all time favorite... Cajun rocks ! Even the only cajun mutant is the coolest one ! (and yes Remi is not only a rat cook.)

Gosh no more champagne ? :(

I had no idea but Chris Reeve's shop is here in Boise. When I can get some breathing room due to work I'll run down there and check it out. I hate hollow grinds... but what can ye do?

I dislike folders usually, especially hollow ground ones, but I hear Chris Reeve is a real nice down to earth guy. It'll be nice just to get hands on with some knives i haven't yet, and see what it's like to manufacture high end knives.

I like the Sebenzas a lot, they are very well made and in a class by themselves. Unfortunately, I don't like the RIL. I just can't take that big gash in the handle, it feels and looks all wrong to me. But if they ever come up with a different locking sistem I'll grab one for sure.

P.S.- I just got my first RIL knife ever, a Spyderco Sage 2. I like the knife, but the RIL still bothers me...

Before I check out Id just like to say a few things. First go look at my very first post. It was postive and up beat and I expressed how much I was happy with my knives. A short time later I made a post about how Id like to see G10(cause your micarta sucks except for the rc5 and mil) on the knives and a pocket clip on the izula(does not make sense to not have one) , and people jumped on my back big time like nobodys business and it was completely uncalled for and not very knife.(then you make a thread about the sebenza) So after that, my disposition changed.

Also Im not going to kiss your ass like everybody else here does just because you make a good knife. I dont need rat knives, just want them, from now on ill stick with my trusty KA-BARs and spydercos like Ive been doing for years. I also do not need a
knife forum to define who I am or what Im about, I usually skim through them when Im taking a shit, just because I have better things to do.

The "hest" review thread was great, you got a lil pissy and had this "tacticool guys vs
"survival" guys thing going on. According to alot of your advertising you are most certainly catering towards that "tacticool" crowd. The dummy you have all dressed up in tactical gear, pic of knives with guns ect ect, plus what it says about RC on the first page you see on your website.

Since 1997, Randall's Adventure & Training® (RAT™) has designed no-nonsense, affordable field knives specifically targeted to military, law enforcement, and the special operations community. Many RAT™ knives now serve in the combat zones of Iraq, Afghanistan and other remote locales. RAT Cutlery™ is also setting the standard for many local, state and federal law enforcement officers when it comes to high performance, compact sheath knives with multiple carry options.

"Survival", "Tactical" "Hostile", all sound great when selling in this industry. And that is just what you are doing, SELLING.

Asthetically, I love them. Great materials, great F&F, and no doubt CR is a great maker.

However, I found it didnt do anything my other pocket blades(fixed and folding) didnt do. I also found I was scarred to death of losing the thing due to its price! lol....

Great knife, but just not for me.

I must be a simple guy. I prefer my scale less Gossman PSK in O1, patinad, and convexed.... Ugly, but functional.

Don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out.

Alright, another one weeded out....

Anyway...I really like the Sebenza, and it is top notch in quality. I am right handed and HATE tip-down, so it is set up perfectly for me.

Dont really carry mine too much though. I know it is up to any reasonable task I throw at it, and I know that CR stands behind them and has great, great CS. I just always reach for a Benchmade, Spyderco, Kershaw, or RAT-1 for a folder. I guess the price point just bothers me when I know that I have a bucketfull of sub-$100 folders that will do a job just as well.

Sure is nice to get out and throw it in the pocket when I feel like appreciating a super high quality piece of usable art, though.

... I just watched Inglorious Basterds, and I'm not sure it would be half as entertaining while sober, although Mélanie Laurent is hot.

Just watched it last night also. I was sure the ending was going in a different direction and Chapter Five: The Revenge of the Giant Face just blew me away.

On Sebenzas, I didn't like the looks of them at first but got a chance to handle one at a local store and appreciate the feel of the tight tolerances on the pivot and lock up. Someone called the Sebenza a gadget. He had a good point. It's a little mechanical wonder. I liked the minimal design and the way you could take it apart easily for cleaning. The thing I'm wondering about with them is whether the tight tolerances in the pivot requires disassembly and cleaning. Would love to hear how the Sebenza worked out on one of RAT's survival training classes. I suppose the newer Umnumzaan with it's different pivot design is the solution to that problem though.

I managed to satiate my Sebenza lust for awhile by picking up a Spyderco Sage2 which doesn't have the magical feel of the Sebenza but does has the benefits of above average ergonomics and the Spyder hole as well as the simple, open back design.

I agree with the general sentiments about Sebenzas. I own two, one large regular and one small classic. They are great knives (I especially love how they can be easily disassembled and cleaned), but titanium and S30V, as good as they are, just isn't my style, and the price point keeps me from *really* using them. I usually end up carrying a slipjoint of some sort most of the time anyway...
