I need 2 1/2" of cutting pleasure

Okay I'm looking for a 2 1/2" folder. It's for work and I often deliver to federal buildings so I'm looking for some suggestions for a good small blade that won't excede federal knife laws regarding length.

IMO, spyderco Dragonfly is the ultimate work knife. Small enough to not get much attention, that is until you start slicing stuff, its a beast of a cutter!

Spyderco Cricket?

Spyderco in general has some great little big knives.

Maybe the Kershaw scallion or chive? The assisted opening really makes them pop open strong because of the smaller blades.

I thought that by law you can't exceed 2" in a federal building, rather than 2.5"...oh well...

In any case you might wanna look at:
- Fallkniven U2 and U4 (just ordered mine...), respectively 2.52" (I am fairly sure 0.02" won't get you in trouble...) and 2.08"...
- Benchmade 240 (2.37"), 250 (2.20") <-- all new and very cool
- Spyderco Dragonfly 2 (I own this one, great knife. Blade lenght: 2.25")

The specs say it's over 2.5 inches, but if you actually measure the cutting edge of a Spyderco Delica 4, it's exactly 2.5 inches. Great knife, too... especially for utility.

Al Mar SLB. 1 3/4" of razor-sharp cutting power.

We have Clapton, The Crow, and the phantom of the opera, decent pedigree. :D

I gotta thumbs up the dragonfly 2, too:) Its aesthetics are pretty amenable indoors in suit and tie territory, is a great price, and can cut like a beast as mentioned above.

I've been EDCing my Dfly2 the past couple weeks and my lazy coworkers left me a number of boxes to 'de-flap':)

Our cardboard is some pretty thick and tough stuff and I was more than impressed today to see it slice with ease.

Needless to say, it's very light and can be easily ghetto-waved...

I would go with a non locking C127 for the ideal corporate friendly cutter...But regardless of blade size concealed carry in a Fed may not be the best idea..A no weapons policy doesn't exclude shorty knives as ok..Unless your an on premise worker you will probably need to pass security in some areas..I would ask any guy with a badge on premise before you walk in there with it...

I've got to second this. As someone who spends a pretty fair amount of time in and out of federal buildings, if you've got to go through a metal detector, there is no acceptable blade length.

the most law friendly knife you can carry and still have features like a thumb hole is the spyderco ukpk (united kingdom pocket knife). Blade length is 2 15/16 inches. It does not lock but it pretty much has a lockback design but a weak back spring. this is a knife that was designed to be legal, tactical, and functional. This knife passes all knife laws around the world even in europe.

Except Denmark and New York City...

in NYC the legal blade length anything under 4" and locking knives are ok.

The law isn't the issue, its the fact that their DA, Cyrus R. Vance, Jr. has chosen to reinterpret the law. He considers any one hand opening knife to be a switchblade.
