I need a camp axe

I have two Estwings that I have been using for 40 years. I no doubt got much more that my monies worth out of them as they are still as functional as when new. There just isn't a tougher ax/hatchet to be had. I have several other ax and hatchet tools and I like wood handles but if I am in no mans land, I don't plan to be trying to make a new handle if I break one. Thus, the Estwings.

If you like the Granfors Bruks but not the price the Wetterlings seems the obvious choice. I would have pegged the Wetterlings as the obvious choice anyway if you comfortable working it a bit with some wet-n-dry. Much better value. Granfors Bruks are good but they have become so trendy the price has got ramped up far in excess of their worth. I just don't see the Granfors Bruks being worth two Wetterlings. I believe this so strongly my GB Wildlife is now retired and doesn't live in this nest. I don't see the price of them returning back to reality any time soon.

You say you like the Fiskars but like wood handles, cool, there's no reason for them to be mutually exclusive. I was handling several Wilkinson Sword axes in a store about an hour ago. Wilkinson Sword exists only in name now, these are Fiskars [it even says so on them]. They are on Hickory handles. The 5yr guarantee is meaningless to me but a nice touch. Worth a look, could be a budget bargain.
