I need a Kayak knife

Spyderco Swick

If you can find one... they are the best. Finger in, quick pull, it ain't going anywhere. If you want it rounded, a few strokes on the stone can take care of that for you.

I recommend The Tasman salt.

The spyderco fixed blade salts should be out sometime soon.

I'm just stunned that there are this many boaters on this site. Wow. I bought my first kayak, a Hydra Tarus, in 1986 and have never looked back. I paddled a lot of great rivers from Idaho to Mexico (including The Grand twice) and carried a Tekna dive knife with me most of the time.

I still have a whitewater boat and I still have my old Tekna, I just don't use either near as much anymore. Now days, most of my paddling is in a sit-on-top that I use to carry bait out into the Gulf of Mexico in the search of big toothy critters and the knife that's usually with me is a Spyderco Salt. Great little knife. But I've never seen those kydex sheaths for them. Can anyone tell me where to find one?

Contact Eric (Normark) at OnSceneTactical. He does amazing work and is a great guy.

Big vote for "Normark".
He's the best. If you like plastic.....;)

I think so...

That Wave Sport looks just like mine only mine's orange:thumbup:
I'm more of a sea paddler, but everyone knows one boat isn't enough!(kinda like knives:D)

Nice pics Paddling_man!! Baby falls on the Tellico and bottom one looks like the Olympic course on the Ocoee. Big fun!! Encolsing a picture of some of the Whitewater (or boating in general) sheaths I make.

I used a Gerber River knife. These are less expensive, non pointed if you get the one made that way and also with built in snaps designed for attatching to vests and gear straps.

Nice little knives and very handy. Here is the one I had for years and still have actually. Shop around google you can probably beat this price. Check that. Boy sure can. http://www.knivesplus.com/GERBER-KNIVES-FIXED-RIVER-BOOT.html

Ebay may have some buy it nows also.

Lotta boaters on this site, paddlers and sailors.

Eric Normark, Mike Sastre and Scott Gere all make very nice Kydex & Boltaron sheaths for knives.

Mike Sastre is an avid paddler as well.

Spyderco is coming out with two fixed blade models in H1 ideal for water sports,. Should be out before year's end.

I have never used H1 but have been interested.
How does it perform, and how rust resistant is it in sea-water?
Alot cheaper than stellite.

Fallkniven WM1 in the old belt kydex or the new zytel sheath taped or strapped to your left shoulder. You could get a WM1 blade only and have "Normark" make a sheath of your choice.
