I need a Kayak knife

Kayak folks know this, but it is worth repeating.

If you're going to put it around your neck in a boat, make sure it's on a breakaway clasp.

Tying paracord around your neck is a good way to invite strangulation.

FWIW, I just did a search for "breakaway clasps" on eBay and found someone selling them pretty reasonably out of Canada (99.9% positive rating). I ordered 10, so hopefully, I'll be making some more neck lanyards soon.

The yellow handled knife in the picture is an Atlantic Salt; blue handled knife is a Rescue Jr.. Saver Salt is the same size and blade configuration as the Jr., but with yellow or black handle and made in H1. Hi serrated blades have outstanding edge performance and are rustproof to boot. I highly recommend any of the Spyderco Salt series knives for use around/in water. I'm looking forward to the fixed blade water Spyders.

I use a mission MPU when Im on the water.A spyderco rescue would probably make a good folder if thats what you prefer. It has a sheepefoot blade totally serrated.might be getting one soon myself.

Don't pass up Mission Knives. They have a few models that would interest you. They are pricey but the knives cut very well, they are tough and will not rust-ever. If you put that knife away wet, don't worry about it. My MPF is my adventure knife, always.

These are made for boaters. I have a friend who kayaks200+ days/year in the Long Island Sound. He swears by Boye. The blade is not steel, but composed of a dendrytic cobalt alloy. It will not rust and takes a great edge.
