I need a knife that can cut anything.

Antiqueblades,

Just my personal opinion, but I think you will earn more respect, and gain more knowledge, if you ask serious, honest questions on this forum.

Now I could be wrong, but something tells me that you're not really interested in paying any price for a knife to impress your friends, and that this is a question you made up just for the fun of it.

No, most people will be fine seeing a piece of real quality that can take care of all of the tasks at hand.
You really don't need something flashy and big. You can get that "Wow that's a nice knife" without carrying around a knife just to strive for that reaction.
I've gotten wows over my Spyderco Squeak and Kershaw Blur.
You're better off with something that works good, ergonomic, has a good steel, and can handle your daily chores.

OP - It doesn't have to be super fancy to get the job done and impress people. Most people are wowed at how sharp a nice knife is. They are wowed because it's a good knife and does what it needs to without so much as flinching at the job(yes knives can flinch). Get something that will slice well, hold a good edge, and will be comfortable to use on a hunting trip. If it so happens to be a great looking knife at the same time, so be it. :D

I agree 100%. All my knives are 4" and under and not flashy. I was gearing my answer toward the OP and his friends, whom I was assuming are kind of new to knives, based on the question. Assuming that they are new to knives, I didn't think he would really get cool points for materials or construction. I know people that love the cheap gas station knives that look "cool" but are horrible. I assumed he was one of these people

Yeah I am feeling my assumption that it my be a younger man dare I say child that is posting these things. So my advice to you antique is sit back watch the forums for awhile and get a feel for things learn the ways so to speak and ask intelligent well thought out questions when you need to most questions you may ask have already been asked before search the forums you will be surprised at what you find.

Beat me to it. You win.

You are both winners.
And if you, antique blades, get this, you will be the ultimate winner.
And some interesting answers considering money is no option.....
What are you hunting for?? That's what I wanna know!

Try a Busse NMFBM or CGFBM or KILLA ZILLA
Swamp Rat Rodent Rucki
Scrap Yard Dog Father or 1311 or 911
If you get licky a Busse MOAD or AK-47 and Ruck!
All show off worthy just sitting there but will shine chopping!
NMFBM is my favorite!

If you want to impress people who really know knives...get a Mora and an Opinel and don't mention them unless asked. They might not be flashy, but people will at least think you know what you're doing.

If he's truly a "noob" ( I haven't seen that in a while) then he should at least do some research and ask more specific educated question. All of his threads are prime examples of "what non-knife people would say"

So we expect everyone that shows up here to be well read on knives? It is not uncommon to get a new member who shows up with nothing more than interest and enthusiasm. We should help them whenever possible.

Not to demean the OP or anyone else, but the answer to most questions is - Mora, Opinel, INFI or Victorinox.

In terms of helping, I totally agree. I love helping new knife people, but the way he's going about it is rather annoying. There are plenty of resources where you can do some personal research before asking questions. If he was asking about particular knife type, blade material, brand, etc. that would be fair. But to flat out ask a general ambiguous questions that's just plain lazy. I've lurked so much on this forum reading up posts about materials and brand to educate myself. If I can't find anything on it that's when I ask questions.

Good post. I do think what we have here is a young person who has little real world knowledge base, and a lot of misconceptions. Some patient answers will go a long way to educate him, and give him some ammo to start making decisions in a more mature manner. Newbies need to be mentored, not made fun of.

Carl.
