I need a tc Barlow it's my grail knife

The generousity abounds in this forum for sure. I'm always leery about these threads however as there shouldn't be threads like this that turn into a place for people to post, simply looking for a gifted knife.

I hope that this isn't where this thread is going. Newer members...spend some time on the forum doing research, reading the threads, looking at pics, interacting and also check the exchange often. You will find more knives within your reach than you can imagine and it shouldn't be hard at all to obtain your "grail".

Not to forget...welcome!!!

Agreed Jake, I'm astounding with the generosity in this forum and am no stranger to it. Bob's thread is evidence of such. It is the holidays after all.

However, take this with a grain of salt.. I hope this is not the direction this thread is going..There is no bitterness to that, just an observation.

You just have to be patient and diligent with your search. It took me a year + to find some discontinued pieces I wanted. If you want the bad enough.. either saving up and being quick to the draw or learning more about the 'grails' you seek and where to find them.

Yes, that is a wonderful thread. I was being a bit flippant, and my post regarding "any barlow" should not be taken seriously. The whole truth of the matter is, I have my eye on this Imperial Barlow in my local pawn shop. Its a rusted junker and would be perfect for me to satisfy the Barlow need and get one I can really call my own by fixing it up. Recently, I have become fascinated with the cheapy, dime store type, no-longer made, Barlows.

I was not asking for this I was just wondering when they be produced but this forum is a wonderful place where my faith in humanity is growing everyday

Agreed, we've all seen threads like that from time to time, sadly. The posting history of members is easily checked and sometimes revealing

Hope everyone had a good Christmas. Congratulations Tyler, try not to lose this one!

Somewhat back to the topic at hand... Do the GEC knives branded as TC Barlows end up for sale at one particular dealer, or several? I was able to get my NF barlows through an early bird program at one of the dealers recently, but I have not been that diligent on the TCs.

From Peregrin;

Please discuss the knives, not where to buy them, how much they cost, who has them in stock etc.
This is a non commercial forum. Please take the time to read the guidelines

I realize that. Let me clarify - I am not looking for any particular vendor or pricing. Just in general how people come across them. I think that answer has been stated. It sounds like I need to stay up to date with GECs website and dealers. Sorry to get under anyone's skin.

The TC Barlows are all SFO (special factory orders) that were done for Charlie Campagna. At one time you had to contact him via e-mail to order them directly from him. Some of the later runs had some quantity that you could order directly from some other GEC vendors. I don't know what the arrangement was.

In general, GEC will post their upcoming projects on their web site (greateasterncutlery.net) with the contact information for whoever is placing the SFOs that are in the pipeline.

As GEC knives have become more popular recently, many SFOs and even some regular production runs are completely sold out via pre-order, so i general it is a good idea if you are interested in the brand to find one or more dealers (listed on the GEC web site) contact them, and find out what their pre-order or early notification process is.

At first it does seem like some sort of secret club where you have to be "in the know" but in reality the information is all on the GEC web site. You could also call or e-mail GEC directly with questions on where and how to buy their products.

(Hoping this information is sufficiently generic and historical in nature as to be considered informative without being commercial.)
