I need a ultra light, strong, not serrated, key chain knife, as my primary cutting to

yep, he is a bit big to be a keychain knife...
But personnaly, i would'nt use a key-chain knife as only knife for every task...:D
It would be neither too small to use it practically (i woudl'nt eat everyday with a "lady bug"...), or slightly too big to be put on a key-ring...
The U2 is the smalest one... that i still consider "usable" :)

Eh, I don't see the point of knife being attached to keys - it will make your key pack heavier and bulkier while keys will get into the way when cutting.

If I may suggest a nice little knife that just disappers in any pocket: BM Opportunist

By the way, after typing that post, i was looking at my U2, thinking how much it was a nice folder, if only he was having a clip...
Locking at the handle...
Hummmm.
What about...
Tadada !
After 5 min job on it and the clip taken from an unused v-tech knife...
I am know owner of the brain new modele .. U2 with pocket clip !:D

it's honestly extremely easy to do, even with my two left hands !

Now that's a sweet setup! I like it. A lot. :)

I've been carrying a Swiss Army Classic but it is useless.

Useless?

I have to say I disagree, I have one on my keyring since I'm 10. REALLY useful.

Even if I have a bigger EDC, I keep my SAK Classic.

SAK blades are very hard to open good luck try to open it with short finger nails or with greasy hands, and they go dull every other day. It is useful if you have nothing else. But for cutting tasks i would not rely on a SAK. Tweezers, Micro scissors are neat but how often do you use them?

I don't say it's good for cutting tasks. I just say it's not "useless".

I consider it as a good complement to an EDC.

How often isn't the point. It's when you need them that they're indispensible. :)

The Classic is primarily a grooming tool, but for opening packages or envelopes, it works fine. And if you're attacked by zombies, well, they may have zombie mice with them ...

I like the Al Mar Osprey

I'm suprised that nobody mentioned the Kershaw Chive, I have one and it is smaller then my fob for the power locks on my van. Also it has assisted opening and mine holds an edge not bad. Only bad thing is that they are expensive for such a small knife.

CS has a super edge and another design. Pretty sharp little 2-inch fixed blldes that stay pretty secure in their plastic sheaths.

Well, I tried carrying a Classic as a fob on a micro flashlight (or vice versa) and honestly, it just didn't work for me. The minimalist theory was good, but for the most trivial extra size and weight, the Rambler's cap lifter/ Phillips head adds useful capability. Why do without?

IMHO, the Rambler is a perfect size for jeans watch pocket carry. Any thicker, like the Manager, is a bit too much.

Why not keep the Classic for its toothpick, scissors, etc. and carry a little larger knife just for the blade.

When I said the classic was useless for me, I wasn't being clear. Many years ago I thought is was pretty versatile, but I do plumbing now and spend a lot time on my side and stomach, either under sinks, or under houses.

The classic's handles start breaking, and the scissors and toothpick fall out under that abuse, the scissors quit operating and then all I'm left with is a fragile little blade.

I thought that a good little knife like one of those little spydercos may be the way to go.

Thanks for the suggestions, tommorrow I'm going to start looking at the various knives mentioned, and then make a purchase soon.
