I wasn't sure where to post this but figured, since it will eventually lead to some type of feedback I will post it here.

The situation is this. I made contact with a member here(name will be witheld until I determine proper action based on your advice)about buying a knife they had listed. Contact was made and pmt sent to this member on the 6th or 7th of this month. I send many packages and letters around the country and it usually takes 4-5 days. I made contact with the seller a couple times to verify pmt was received and respnse was prompt. The last time I checked with this person I was told they hadn't checked the mail yet but they seemed pretty sure it arrived(hmm, telepathic). I checked the next day and the Money Orders were cashed on the 15th. I was told not once, but twice without followthrough that a Delivery Confirmation # would be emailed to me and the knife was shipped on Monday the 19th. I have emailed this person twice since, once Monday and once today. I think it is to early to hear a response from today yet but I would think I should have heard something from Monday.

This seems to be an awful long time to wait for anything to be shipped. I usually receive most packages within 3-5 business or shipping days from anywhere in the US. This is the 9th day since it supposidly shipped and do not have a DC# or tracking #.

What should I do in this case? Should I wait longer or should I post the emails here with the name of the member? I really do not want to ruin someones name and rep.

Thanks

If they are a member look at there trader feed back?
Maybe how long they have been a member.
Also if you go to their profile, and look at statistics. You can find all their post and threads they have made?
See what kinda deals they have done? If any?

It could of been sent? And just a little slow going. weather and what not?
I give it a couple more days.
It is aggravating though, when response is lacking...... :grumpy:
Good luck.

Todd

You have waited long enough IMO but there is no harm in a few extra days.

Lack of communication is frustrating but dosnt always mean your getting ripped off.

I hope it all turns out good.

Just to give you an idea of expiditing business, Josiah here on BF made me a knife I ordered a couple days after I bought the knife in question. He had to wait for inventory to be filled from his supplier, then wait for it to be shipped to him to be finished. I received an email 3 days ago that the knife is finished and just waiting for the sheeth. Its amazing how someone can make a full custom quicker than another can cash money orders and ship a knife.

E-mail him and tell him in no uncertain terms that he has 8 hours to respond back or you WILL out him here on GB&U!!!

I checked his feedback before I did business with him and just went through and read some. All seem real good. 100% for 18. Maybe its just the slow shipping service. I hope! I really hate jumping the gun so I am going to hold off one more day. Sorry Ren. I do appreciate everyones concern though.

I just received an email explaining that the MOs posted to his account on the 20th. He said he sits on them until they clear. I purposely sent Post Office Money Orders to avoid waiting. He paid the postage online and the mailman never took it. He had to run it it the POffice himself which may have been a better idea in the first place. He is very apologetic about it, but it seems only after an email sensing of distaste. I did finally get a DC# upon the 3rd request.

I've got mixed feelings about this one. What if I would have not made contact for a couple more days? Is there any follow-up? Just because someone works does this excuse him? I work 50-60 hours a week and managed to go to the Post Office.

No need to withhold my name, it was me. This whole situation was my fault. I apologized not due to your email, but because I genuinely do feel bad about you not having your knife. No excuses, the whole thing was my fault. Explainable, yes, but not excusable. No big story from me here, just an apology.

I always wait to ship until a non USPS Money Order clears. I have gotten two fake ones in the past and not that I am distrustful, but you never know.

Communication was lacking on my part, which is very uncharacterstic of me. Again, I apologize for that as well. It was not intentional. My regular email is a hotmail account which is not attached to my BF account. I am usually good about checking it, but for the last two weeks I have sucked at it. Again, completely my fault.

I am sorry for the whole situation. I definitely want you to be happy and satisfied about the whole thing. If you don't like the knife, send it back, I will gladly refund your money.

I really am sorry about the whole thing.

I thank you very much for stepping up and posting. This was a difficult situation but was hoping for the best. When the knife shows up, the transaction will be completed and the problems will be water under the bridge. I will follow up upon recieving the knife and hopefully it will be soon. I am chomping at the bit to use it.

Andy,

I received the knife yesterday. Nice looking knife and am happy with it. I did notice on the box it was shipped in the shipping label from USPS read 1/27/09 on it which would explain why you didn't email me the DC# until the 28th.
I'm also wondering if you have or haven't had money order problems because your email to me says one thing and your post says another. Either way, honesty is important in anything. Your word is all you have coming in and going out of this life. If you would have told me you were busy and didn't get a chance to send it out for a week or so later I would have understood. Here is your last email sent to me on the 28th.

Thanks for at least getting the knife out to me.

Sorry for the slow response. I have been on call 6 times in the last 14 days and I can't check email at work. The DC number is 03071790000524893297 USPS. I know it is on its way. I had paid the postage online and the mailman was supposed the pick it up from my house, which he did not. I took it to the post office myself. It was sent USPS Priority Mail insured with DC. I sincerely apologize for the delay. Entirely my fault. If your bank has the money orders cashed on the 15th, they are faster than mine. They did not post to my account until the 20th. I have never had a problem with money orders, but I usually wait for them to clear before I ship a knife out. That being said, I have never had any MO take this long to clear, so I apologize for that. Really sorry again for the delay. If the knife does not show up soon, please let me know. Again, sorry for the delay.

I am not really sure what you are getting at. I paid for the shipping prior to the money orders posting. You confirmed your address to me on the 20th. I assumed it would be picked up on the 21st. It wasn't. I travel for work. When I got home on the 26th, the knife was on my front porch. I went to the PO on the 27th and mailed the knife myself. I am not sure what exactly you are getting at with your above post. If you would like any further explanation, please email me. If you don't like the knife, I will refund your money. If anyone else would like the entirety of our email conversation, please pm or email me and I will send them to you. I don't appreciate the subtle poke at my integrity either.

This is also the first I have heard of the knife arriving. You chose to post here rather than email me.

Just for the record, you did not send a USPS Money Order. Non-USPS money orders I treat as checks because they can be easily counterfeited. If I was wrong in doing so I sincerely apologize.

My intention was not to make a poke at your integrity, but to figure out what is going on. The USPS Shipping Label has 1/27/09 as a date on it which those are printed out at the time you mail the package. Also, I bought the the first money order was purchased through a UPSP mini location located in a local Drug Store,so it was a USPS Money Order. I told my wife to pick the second up and where to do it.

I was also trying to figure out why you said you never had issues with money orders but then you said you had a couple fake ones. Just trying to straighten this out.

I suppose the package could have sat around at the Post Office, realized they never shipped it, and sent it out on the 27th. I'm not sure.

As far as the comment I made about a persons word, I meant you could have told me you traveled and might not get it out for a while. I would have understood.

For future reference, your bank can call the bank or other issuer that issued the MOs and verify they are legit. I do that all the time. It works great and shaves alot of time off.

Sorry for the huge ordeal and I apologize for not emailing you first. I was kind of ticked off and after everything else, I made an impulse decision to post here first. I do like the knife and plan on keeping it. I just wish business could have went better.

I have never had any problems with a money order taking so long to post to my account. If you have them as cashed on the 15th, and they posted to my account on the 20th, that is a time lag. Neither money order was a USPS money order with the United States Postal Service printed on the top.

I was called out of town due to an illness of one of my co-workers. I tried to ensure your knife would be mailed when I left town, hence the shipping being paid online and left for pickup. When it wasn't, I went to the post office and mailed it myself.

I honestly never thought about calling the bank to verify the money orders. I suppose if a week had gone by and they hadn't posted, I would have contacted you or the bank.

I am glad you like the knife. Sorry for the delay.

Andy

I'm sorry you guys had a difficult transaction and glad that we members of this forum have a way to work out our problems. As a new seller, I have learned from your difficulties. I had no idea that a non-USPS money order could cause problems or delays in posting. And I never gave a thought to counterfeiting.

My thanks to you both for the education.
