I Need Everyone's Help and Expertise...

Are you the lads that have been hunting on my land? I got an eye out. Just kidding, but it has happened. Get a KaBar. They have an 8 inch fighter that should do the trick. Have fun!

If you hunt with catch dogs, you use a knife. You don't shoot the hog..you might kill one of your dogs...or your buddy!

Call it what you like...but ranks high on my list of most sporting hunts...even above bow hunting (tracking style).
Yes, we do use catch dogs, and yes we also think that it is a sporting way to hunt. The hogs are usually dead just as quick or quicker with the knife than when shot with a rifle and as mentioned there is no risk to the dogs.

That Buck Nighthawk looks like the cheap alternative I have seen so far. Who has the best deal on KaBars out there?

MMM,sounds to me like a standard issue camillis (k-bar) would do fine, well under your intended price range,no frills toughness, for dispatching boars just sharpen the false edge for easier penetration, wont break your heart if you lose it in the bush as it can be easily replaced at many surplus stores.

All good replies guys, keep them coming. I am going to the Dallas/Ft Worth area this weekend where I can hopefully find some of these recommended knives to handle. Anybody know of a good knife shop in the D/FW area?

Check out the timberline zambezi for this job. I also highly reccommend the kabars line.

One of the newer Ka Bars they have great grip. the D2 models are right about at your price range or you could pick up two of the less expensive ones.

KA-BAR. You can't beat em or break em under 'standard' abuse. I've had mine about 4 years and done everything under the sun with it. It's still sharp and tough as the day I got it.
