Well I find my self in the predicament of needing to sell a knife do to a recent fender bender. :grumpy:Well not quite a fender bender... I was parking my car at a park where my boy had his soccer game last week. There was virtually no parking anywhere. And things were insanely packed. I kept following the road hoping to find an empty spot, even if it was far away as I do not mind walking a ways.

It turned out that the people who run the park had a gate closed on this road leaving me almost trapped. There was one car in front of me who was trying a 3 point turn up the side of a hill nearly side swiping me. I tried to squeeze past him and ended up scrapping the front bumper of a parked car. At that point the other car somehow worked his way out and was gone. No one was around so I just left a note with my info. on the car windshield.

I took my son to his game. When I told the coach what happened, as we were a little late because of it, he said he would just have left and not say anything. I told him that that is not how I do things. Plus I want to set a good example for my 4 year old son.

After the game I decided to go back to the car and see if I could catch the owner. Sure enough the owner, his wife, and little girl were getting into the car. He hadn't even seen the damage nor the note I left on the windshield. I explained things to him and assured him I would take care of the damages. He and his wife seemed surprised that I didn't just take off given the circumstances. He turned out to be a nice guy, so far. We got a few estimates, and it looks like the best price for repair is approx. $200.00.

Although this was a complete accident I do not want to dip into our credit card or regular funds. It was my mistake thus I want to take care of it. So now the question is which knife to sell?

I ain't parting with my AK. No way! So that leaves me with my Dog Father and co. sheath or my BATACSE and spec- ops sheath. I have heard it said that a big knife can do the work of a small knife but not the other way around. Or I could sell both, pay for the guy's car repairs, and buy a FFBM I have on loan.

What do you guys think?

Have you thought about asking the owner of the other car if he'd be willing to take 4 even payments from you, or maybe 2, over 2-3 months? Would this make a difference, and maybe allow you to keep your knives?

EDITED to add: Might be easier to find another Dog Father than the BATACSE...?

I say if you like the ffbm a lot then sell both the Dog Father and the Batacse and keep the ffbm.

first of all, good for you for doing what is right. many many people (present company excluded, of course:)), would have just left, and claimed they knew nothing of what had happened.

you are a man among men, truly.

back to business. sell the dogfather. you will regret parting with the se. i know how much you love the badgers!!

we chop for fun, but in the end i think the badger is a far more useful knife.

Tyrkon--I don't like to give advice, but I do want to commend you on your honesty--a rare commodity in this day and age. My only thought is don't give up the Badger--it is obvious even to me, a comparative noob, how much you love that blade. Hang in there, infi-brother! ;)

A girl needs a knife...and so do you!

Definitely sell the Dog Father, if you need to sell something. When you're ready to buy another, let me know. I have two, and I'll sell one to you at cost.

Sell the DF and keep the BATACSE. Use that money towards the repairs. When funds allow...pick up that FFBM

Thanks for the replies guys. That's why this place rocks!

I have had the same thing happen to me before but the person just hit my previous car and left. No note. No nothin'. And I don't want to do that to someone else.

Luckily my car had virtually no damage. So I won't have to repair it. So that is a positive.

I like having a large blade designated as a chopper but I do love my Badger.

Either way I will still have a couple of awesome knives that will last me a life time.

So I guess I don't have too much to complain about. Just one of those things. ;)

Don't sell the BATAC SE. If something's gotta go, let the DogFather go, and then pick up another one when you get the cash.

The BATAC SE is a great little big knife. It'll be much harder to replace.

You are a teacher, right?

Just organize a field trip with a small profit margin built in. $10 a head and you are in the clear.

I'd hate to see you give up the Badger SE...

+1 on letting the DF go.

Although, extorting the kids lunch money seems the best answer. :D :p

Very commendable my friend. Parting with blades sucks, especially when it isn't for another blade. If I had the spare cash right now, I would loan you the $200. Just don't make any rash decisions.

Tyrkon, if you steal enough hubcaps, I think you can get the money without having to sell the DF:D. I would not sell anything, but I am greedy like that.:D I love the DF.

I LOVE MY DF SINCE IT'S A RUBBER HANDLED SHBM BASICALLY

DID I MENTION I LOVE MY DF

Sorry to hear about the accident, but give it a few days for the dust to settle before selling anything. I just sold my BATACLE for needs, but it still stings. That and I found I didn't need to sell it about 2 days later.

Definitely sell the Dog Father, if you need to sell something. When you're ready to buy another, let me know. I have two, and I'll sell one to you at cost.

:thumbup::thumbup: A fine offer by a stand-up guy.

Not surprised to see this from Dr. Lunde -- he's a fine fellow.

Tyrkon, please check your PM.

I'm sorry, but I just don't like the idea of Tyrkon parting with any of his knives. :(

He works hard doing something that benefits everyone, and this is his reward?? :(

...and every single knife he has is a real 'keeper.' Just not something that should be parted with...

We need another solution.
