I Need To Get Something Off My Chest...

Never held one, Ive heard plenty good things about it though. Looking forward to trying one out, but am happy with the Sebs.

I just like the Mnandi. Guess it shows as I don't current own one. Had several n the past. I'm more of a Sebenzaholic. I just feel they(sebs) are more EDC useful. As a gentlemans knife for a night on the town or as mentioned, funeral or church, etc, fine.

I don't like the large sebenza. It offers nothing for me that a small seb can't do and it doesn't fit into my smaller hands.
And I'm exactly the opposite. I like the large Sebenza because it feels more solid in my medium-sized hands. In fact, I won't buy folders any more that have less than 4" handles.

My complaint with small folders in general is that they're harder for me to open up one-handed than large folders are. The thumbstuds or holes on larger folders seem to line up perfectly under my thumb when I grasp the knife, so I can open them easily. But small folders seem to swim around in the palm of my hand. They're either too far foward or too far to the rear or at the wrong angle when I grasp the knife, so I end up having to manipulate them to get their thumbstuds or holes to line up properly. And for me, that's a PITA.

The ONLY small folders I'm comfortable with are flippers, and that's because I don't have to use my thumb to open them. But I don't see a flipper coming out of CRK anytime soon.

I have 11 small sebenzas in various configurations. I am curious about the mnandi and large sebenza, but am afraid I would 22 more knives! Small sebbie is awesome!

My eyes cannot unsee what I have read! :p :D

I must admit I carry the small a lot more than I carry the Mnandi and that one of the main attractions I have to the Mnandi it the drop dead gorgeous sexy looks of it, more than the function.
While we are confessing our sins I must confess the Umnuum and 25 do little to nothing for me. One of the things I love most about CRK folders is the precision pivot.

As you might expect, I find the opposite to be true. Being fairly dextrous, I can open a mnandi with no effort at all and a small seb with just a shade more work. On the other hand, the weight of the large is difficult to manage while opening. Perhaps with more time I could've figured out a method, but I just didn't see the need...

On the plus side, I know of one less person in the world who will be bidding against me to get the next sweet mnandi. And the large seb you might be looking at - it's all yours. :)

Yep. You and I are at opposite ends of the spectrum, all right. My ideal production knives are made by William Henry. That should tell you something. So you stay on your side of the fence and I'll stay on mine. :)

PS: I've got a large Sebenza, but I'll probably never carry it. Any folder that weighs over 4 ounces falls into the "pocket brick" category for me. The only reason I own it is because . . . well, you know. If you don't own a Sebenza you got no reason to live!!! And I have to keep my membership in the CRK forum in good standing. ;)

Yeah. He's quite the creature, isn't he? Guess you could say it was love at first sight. :D And my wife can't stand to look at him. Based on some of the subforums I visit around here, I'd call that a plus.

You should get a carbon fiber large. Or have a carbon fiber scale made.

Actually, I had Peter R make a couple of scales for me before he got started into making his own knives. One of them was carbon fiber. It didn't really lighten up my Sebenza all that much. Titanium is already pretty light. But thanks for the suggestion. :)

PS: I ended up selling the carbon fiber scale. But I kept this one:

OK I'll play. I don't much care for the Umnum. Its too big and it tears up my pockets. I love my large plain Insingo, been EDC'ing it for over a year.

Brothers and sisters... I am glad to see we can all have a safe, non-judgmental place to air our feelings about these issues. This only solidifies even further the idea that I am not quite as insane as I thought. I find comfort in friends and co-miserating.

I am curious about the Mnandi, as kind of a replacement for some of my smaller slip joint knives. Might have to try one someday.

I have no use at all for the small Sebenza though, so mine just sits in the safe, doing nothing. It is far too little for my hands. I cannot even tell when I have an Umnumzaan or large Sebenza in my pocket, so that is not an issue at all for me.

The difference between a Ti large 21 and a CF large 21 is one ounce. A large CF 21 is only 3.7 oz, for a big folder that is pretty light. But anything compared to William Henry's are heavy so I get where you're coming from, probably another ounce less than a Large CF.

But back to the topic, I'm definitely in the same boat as others. Small seb is as small as I'll go for an edc. It is already super compact.

Agreed. Each of the different CRK variations deserve respect, but we all like some more than others.
(I think the Ti-Lock looks ridiculous, but if somebody wanted to give me one I sure wouldn't say no!)

Yes, it is.

. . . or more. My B7-FT EDC has a 3" blade (7" overall) and weighs in at 1.6 ounces. That's just about perfect for someone like me who prefers deep pocket carry.

I really do like the lines of the Mnandi. I'd love it if CRK made a slightly larger version. After all, if they can make two sizes of Sebenzas, why not two sizes of Mnandis?

A while back I bought a couple of really nice Mnandi's to see what I was missing. I never coulld quite bond with them even though they are a beautiful little knife.
I am kind of a hard use knife guy and so the Large Sebenza is what I carry daily and use the most.
In comparison I prefer the Small Sebenza over the Mnandi, probably for the same reasons I like the Large Sebenza, when I need a smaller knife to carry in my pocket.
It's all a matter of personal taste and required use.
