I ordered the BirGorkha village models -- and blamed all of you.

I figured the way things are going and considering the rather heated email I've been sending that discretion was the better part of valor right now so when I placed the order I said, "our customers are DEMANDING that we make some khukuris like our kamis would make them for use in the village."

Briefly, I asked for typical village cosmetics both blade and handle, various sizes, that each kami make and mark (they may omit the HI mark -- I left this optional to see what they would do) a half dozen khukuris ranging from 14 to about 24 inches. Village sarki scabbard. I think we have seven master kamis right now so this should give us a start of about 40 khukuris.

Wonderful Bro!!!!!!!!!!
Put me down for a BGRS if you will please Bro.:)

Yvsa, I looked up village blades on the website and saw as the size went up the price rose...other than that as a constant, everything else seemed variable. Shape, width, etc... So when you say, 'order me a BGRS" what did you just ask for!?

Uncle,
I'm in for anything from 16 to 18 inches. Let me know your best estimate of cost and I'll cheerfully prepay.

No prepayment please. I have not received confirmation of the order. It was sent 2AM Nepal time. They may tell me to go to hell.

Stay tuned.

No special orders in this run. I'm not going to push my luck. "Just like you would make for your neighbor" is what we are getting.

Freudian slip here, billpaxton?

Nah... he is just having flashbacks. ;)

Oh and Uncle - blame me, BLAME me, BlAmE Meeeee. HIKV is good.... off to find a drooling smiley.

No special orders is good.

There may be some pleasant surprises when you take a group of top-notch kamis and instruct them to make the blades they make best. You may even see a spike in quality, if not in cosmetics.

Well good luck to all of us in this endeavor.

they may think the crazy Americans finally understand what is important in a khuk.

or that we're benignly nuts, but buy the khuks, so OK, why not.

or, they may be insulted and PO'd.

In the last case Uncle, you be sure and tell them that we are freakin' totally insane, you're sorry, but it's totally our fault, and since you live in the land of crazies you thought it best if you tried to humour the raving, drooling lunatics. :)

I'll bet whatever they do will be a bit of a surprise.

Excellent!
The last two kukuris I got were too beautiful to use. I can get something I won't mind scratching
