It turns out that smoking those sirloins with bradford pear wood chips and pecan shells worked great! Definite smoky aroma and flavor, but not bitter or overbearing at all. We'll be doing that again for certain :thumbup:

I'm a big believer in mulching. Not only does it help control weeds, it helps the soil retain moisture when it's hot.

Yeah it kinda grows on ya, doesn't it? I recently got an order for a Fugitive with grey G10 over toxic green. I like the splash of color without the entire handle being shockingly loud. Although sometimes shockingly loud is just the ticket.

as it turns out, my favorite felling axe, had a head "fly off"

seems that in chopping comps, your head MUST be secured with a cross pin.

because axe head *do* fling off

with those Varios, if the head is loose, and you don't notice the effect in the course of chopping, you're a dumb ass, i think :D

like with chainsaws. chain tension in dynamic, and sometimes you have to fix it in flight.

so it goes.

still, for the money, imho, Fiskars makes the best axes

that said, my lifetime goal is to one at least one of every Gransfors Bruks... and make a cabin? mmm...

i haven't climbed in years now, and i miss it a lot

really hate those tiny people with awesome strength to weight ratios...

i can pick those kinds of people up and carry them around, but that talent is best left to logging, not climbing like a lemur

in a pinch though, i can climb anything, once. esp with velociraptors coming for me.
 
When I was in scouts, I did end up seeing an axe head fly off. Luckily everybody had given the kid distance to swing the tool.

Thanks bladite. I climb with those tiny people often enough, and they complain that I'm tall and therefore climbing is easier for me.
I still say that climbing is a sport made for a 5 foot 10 male. Overhangs kill me.
 
i find it really funny when the tiny climbing ninjas bitch about someone that is "too tall", or "too good at dyno", or the atypical "super strong guy" that just brute forces shit.

they have a nice niche, they should enjoy it :D

I'm 5'-9"..... but at my weight, it's no advantage ;). Any sport, same thing. When I used to windsurf, all the smaller folks were fast in light air, but had some problems with the big sails..... when it was blowing like stink and we were down to the handkerchief size sails, us big guys were the only ones who could keep the fin in the water.

I was mostly kidding.. I have a 3 year old and the wife's 2 cats that are 15 and 17.. and we are trying for another kiddo. I told her we need to wait until the baby is born and a year old or so before we get a puppy... She also wants a baby goat.. I told her if we move to the country she can have any animal she wants, as long as it stays outside. :)

My wife and I were joking about getting some goats for the back yard. It would be nice to have something take care of the grass for me. Only problem would be what to do with them in the winter as I don't want it in the house. They tend to spread their little poop nuggets everywhere.
