Hey Marty, welcome.

This thread is kind of the catch-all thread for things not specifically Becker related. However in this sub-forum we tend to be fairly close-knit and we have developed friendships so we usually just want somewhere to BS with each other. This is where we do it.

Pull up a chair, grab a bourbon, pull up to the fire and sit a spell.

Thanks. Will do. Appreciate the info.

Man you guys are getting nice. When I asked, all the answers were "SNARK!" Or something along those lines.

There is a bar/grill just a few blocks from my house that serves good burgers. When the wind blows my way I can smell them cooking it in my yard or worse inside the house if I have windows open. Had to have one. I got the 1lb bacon cheeseburger called the Fat Bastard and some chili cheese fries....Whoo I'm stuffed now. :)

Little early evening hike, for fun, and new packs break in.

some picks of my pack, and its fit.

The hike was a lot of fun. Made more fun by my lovely hiking companions. We found a little park in the woods and my daughter made a new friend. The area is badly storm struck, and many trees were uprooted and cut up to clear the paths. Hopefully this summer stuff will start coming back. Well I hope you enjoy my crappy cell phone pics, and had fun checking out the little trail near me.

Overall, I am pretty impressed by these packs. Lots of room to expand for great volume. Very fit friendly with many places to adjust and tune how it hangs on you and where, as well as how tightly. Great suspension on the adult packs, and the waist belts are very comfy, even have a small zip pouch on the right side for little things like Chapstick, a Streamlight, mini Bic, and a few cough drops. They came with not just the pocket for a hydration pouch, but with the pouch as well, even on the kids pack. Oh they have an adjustable sternum strap as well. Just a heck of alot of pack for the money.

Anyway, thats all I got for now.

Thanks guys. It was a blast, even if I diodnt get to carry much in the way of steel..lol too many sheeple in the NOVA/D.C area.

Well I have been working on something else I thought might share with yall if you are interested.
First off, I know we all know about Camel Snus Tins, but you have to check out these General Brand Snus Containers. They are plastic and round, but I think they are really neat. Basically, they have two compartments, the bottom large one, and a small top one. The bottom one holds the snus while the top portion is for placing a used snus in if you are not near a trashcan. Here is one I pulled all the labels off of. I think they are neat but I like little containers like this.

Whole container

Top lid open

Anyways... kinda cool BUT the thing I have been working on is inside the main container... Kinda looks gross in the pic, but it is some "firestarter" I am working on.

I made some petroleum jelly/cotton firestarter one day and thought, "I can make this better" And I wanted to make it with just found things around my home... So I have been experimenting with some different stuff and this is what I have come up with so far. I'll show you how "reactive" just this tiny piece is. Pretty small, but I have it fluffed up.

Pretty good so far. It will light with a ferro rod, or a lighter, and that small bit will burn for long enough to start a fire with just a smaller piece. I still am working on getting the portions right, but I just got it refined enough to light with both a lighter and spark tonight while still burning for longer than petrojelly cotton. The next hurdle will be to see if I can extend the burn time more and make it a bit more reactive. As of right now, I am pretty happy with it. Also I need to decide what to put in the top portion. I am thinking some storm matches and a striker or a real small ferro rod... something to make it a "fire kit."

Got a new Kabar in today - It's supposed to be a model 1214 - i.e., the 1212 with a "hard, plastic sheath". The 1212 is the "black, Kraton handled F/U with a COMBO EDGE. From a distance of 2 feet, that's what it looks like.

The box says 1214. The edge says 1212/1214. The ricasso markings say .. Drum roll please....

Thanks brother. On both counts.

I was having to choose which i wore on my neck, but the flashlight comes in handy multiple times a day/night and so does the knife... And i like them both hanging from my neck... Just easy to access. Now i got them both together. Not a light necklace though LMAO

That sounds like a great birthday celebration. Happy Birthday Worldwood! Those wings looked great too!

Thanks man!!

Its funny i was talking with the wife while eating and skimming the thread and i seen the picture of that massive burger and told her now i feel like a burger too LMAO She said its just the munchies and i already sent her to get all those wings and a pizza so i can forget the burger HAHA
