I placed an order for a Boker Plus Apparo survival Knife...

Don't know when Boker started making this Martin design

Some say that this Boker model was made in Taiwan until around 2018 but has switched to China. There are some sites that list China. BladeHQ says Taiwan.
Knifecenter chose to say "Asia" which is like saying a knife was made "in Europe"..lol. But it's possible that the vague COO is because they aren't sure. The "Boker Plus" line has always been both Taiwan and China manufactured. I think all this is just speculation since as far as I can determine, as this Boker model never seems to have had a COO on the ricasso.

Thanks for the info πŸ‘

I guess I thought that there were US laws that required country of origin to be on products made overseas?

I guess I will scour the knife and it's box when I receive them, and see if I can find something on them.
If I do, I will certainly share it here πŸ‘

I thought so too.
However I guess it must not be strictly enforced since Fallknivens do not say "Made in Japan" even
though they used to like 20 years ago.

Oh well missed another great deal. I’ll just have to wait for my Randall model 18 to arrive. Its only 4 years away.

I hope the world doesn’t end before it arrives. Lol

I wanted to add a Randall Made model #1 knife to my collection, but the expected 5 or so year wait from the company direct, was just not what I could do, (my wanting my things asap). So, I went for the stocking dealer route. It cost me about a hundred or a hundred and a half more that way, but... Well, I gots my Randall Made Knife πŸ˜…
Hope yours turns out well worth your wait πŸ‘

Btw, that is a cool Randall choice! 😊

My Model 1 took about 4 years. When it arrived i had forgotten all about it! I thought it was a wrench I had ordered for work. I threw it in the back of my truck were it got kicked around for a week or so.

It was worth the wait.

I’m wondering how many M&M’s will fit in my model 18’s handle? What are you planning for your β€œsurvival kit”

Thanks for sharing the link.
I had run into it too a couple days ago while doing more researching on these knives.
It definitely was a good read, his review being very well done. Some of the following posts put up by some of the other members that owned one of these knives as well, all seemed to echo the original poster's findings. Good stuff! πŸ‘Œ

If your looking for hollow handle knives , check these out. These are by Bladeforum member Sam Wilson Sam Wilson

He offers a few different models. I don’t own one of his knives yet. But you can see how beautiful they are and well built πŸ‘

Sam's work is top shelf......None better!!! The hollow handled knife thread is a great place to follow him and his work...

Looks like they're sold out already, which is a shame because I would have bought one at that price. Oh well, I've already got a Rothco Ramster, which is a direct clone of the Buckmaster 184, not to mention a Buck 639 Fieldmate, which is essentially a miniature Buckmaster.

I wouldn't mind seeing the 639. I might have mentioned I have a 184 I picked up here on the exchange a year or two ago. I've been waiting 25 or so years for that knife and I think it was worth the wait.

I noticed that Knifecenter had put a heads up on their Facebook page concerning the Boker Plus Apparo knife. But, reading through some of the post's comments, it seems they sold out way faster than they likely thought they would.
Anyhow, this is what Knifecenter had posted up about the knife...

Well, although I haven't yet received my Boker Plus Aparro knife from Knifecenter, I decided to bite on a USA made Buckmaster over on the "bay" auction site, (the knife being offered as a "buy it now" item).

I have wanted one for a long time, it being USA made by Buck, and being such an iconic 80's era knife.
Based on the pics, it seems fairly minty, but it doesn't have all the bells and whistles... no box, no compass, no paperwork and other such things. Truth is, I would likely have to have spent hundreds more for it if it did have those items, so I'm okay with just getting the bare bones knife. If it's in nice shape, I'll be happy enough to just have it as a Buckmaster representation within my collection. Well, this one, and also the incoming Boker Apparo πŸ‘

Here are the pictures from the auction...

The tang stamp places it as being a pretty early second edition model.

One extra thing I find to be true about the Buckmaster, and a big reason for my being drawn to it, is it's cool history πŸ‘πŸ˜πŸ‘

Well, so much for the Buckmaster idea... The seller just contacted me to try and have me cancel the order on my end because he had sold the knife on another site, and now had no knife for me. Ugh!
He's now got to figure out how to reimburse me the money... Ugh!

I can't stand irresponsible stupidity πŸ˜”

Thank you, gentlemen!πŸ˜ŽπŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ‘

A knife you can't chop a log with isn't a survival knife. Everything in this thread looks like a combat knife.

Not to get off course, but the term "Survival knife" serves just as much as a classification term as an actual descriptor. If we run with your definition then an "aquatic survival knife" or "desert survival knife" might fail to meet the the definition also, as it's unlikely to chop many logs in the desert or at sea. But they help you "survive" whatever environment you find yourself in.πŸ˜ŽπŸ‘πŸ‘
