I quit.

There's no real quitting. You only move into a hiatus until the next time. That's okay as far as I'm concerned. Added: I honestly didn't realize you were trying to quit SMOKING CIGS. Quitting smoking is a good thing. If you have trouble, give cigars or a pipe a try BUT don't inhale.

As far as cigs go, I think they stink and I really dislike the acid smelling smoke.

Keep it up bro. I quit about 15 years ago. I tried quitting about 3 times cold turkey but finally I did it. I haven't had a smoke in at least 15 years and I don't miss it. You can do it brother.

Hardest thing I have ever done. Keep up the good work. I tried to quit with patches, gum, you name it. It wasn't till I came to the conclusion that I had to be a jerk to every one around me for a couple weeks and go cold turkey. Even when you think you've knocked it, the urge will still come back, just stay strong.

Comeuppance,

Congrats on your wise decision !
How long have you smoked ?
All the best !

I never smoked cigarettes, but used to go through a lot of cigars.
Not always the good ones either. Cheap stuff like Garcia Y Vegas and Black n Milds
Once in a while id buy a name brand Churchill.

It's been months since it was a habit, but I had 2 of them about a month ago. (Bad day)
Not sure ill quit forever, but I sure hit the brakes hard. A big thing that made me want to stop was stinky clothes.

Congrats!

I used a combination of the patch and e-cigs til I was sick of both. It just takes a while to re-train your brain that you're NOT going to have a smoke during "Activity X" (driving, working, drinking, etc)

Good on you. Just last month I passed my 5th anniversary of being nicotine free. After 30+ years of smoking I decided one day that I was tired of being a slave to the nasty things. During a single week I cut back from a pack a day to zero. Haven't missed them yet.

Brother, you know I respect, you, most likely the most honest exchange member on this site, your knives and the way you present them are unreal, but dude you quit something new weekly. For goodness sake stick to something. HA HA ! I keep waiting for you to tansform, or did you quit that already ?? good luck, next week you can quit, quitting...

I keep spending money on them.

I don't need them.

Other people are uncomfortable around them.

They add nothing of value to my life.

Chances are, one day I would seriously hurt myself with them.

Besides, now I have more money for knives.

I'm coming up on a year since I quit. The good news is after 6 months or so, I barely crave it. Not often anyway. But eventually the balance tips, and buying a pack would be such a let down that you won't go back. Just don't take the excuses from yourself, just like you wouldn't take them from someone else. You can do it if you decide to.

Smoked for 40 years and got off them 4 years ago!!! Can't believe I did it!!!!! Don't even want one now,,,, If I can anyone can!!!!

Great pic.
Celebrate the victories, 1 week, 1 month, 6 months, etc with a gift to yourself, it should help motivate you to get through the slightly tougher times.

That's what I do, got a nice Kershaw Avalanche a couple of weeks ago and just got a SYKCO (;)) 411 with a custom leather sheath Friday!

I may have gone a little overboard on the 411 but wtf, I am still "saving" a little money even while spending $127.50 after a couple of weeks...and those "cancer sticks" are just going up and up in price and don't forget the sin taxes are not going to stop, as if any tax is going to go down, but at least this is a personal choice to pay more taxes that you can stop paying with a LOT of willpower and a little help from your friends...hang in there!

I started at age 14. I smoked; a lot. I'm still here; I'm very lucky. Don't screw it up, friend.

I fell off the wagon on the smokes. Kicking meth was easier than this.

best of luck! it is a bitch to quit. Keep in mind that you are stronger than a small white stick. I quit at 4:30am, Feb 26, 1996 and never went back. Cold turkey, never took another puff/drag/etc.
be prepared to quit other hobbies as well. I couldn't open a book w/out wanting to light up. I went from 3-4 books a week to maybe that many since.

I wish you well in this!

I was initially afraid you have quit knives. I am glad it was cigarettes!
