I received the "Needs Work" today that I traded my Chive for, and I am 100% impressed with this "cheap" folder! It's ALOT heavier and ALOT more solid than I expected...But then, since it IS a Kershaw, I should have expected this kind of quality. I'm really thinking that Kershaw should make more folders like this Needs Work, with the Polyimide handle!...Come to think of it, I'd LOVE to see a Cyclone with a Polyimide handle!...

it is a really good knife. i really like the design of the blade which should make for super easy sharpening. a friend is testing it for me by using it to cut up cardboard boxes before putting them in the recycle bin at the university he works at. he's had it for a few months and its still going strong.

I found the polymide to be a bit slippery, especially when wet. I used mine in the kitchen and it made a great fruit & veggie knife, but I would like to see a Needs Work with G-10 handles.

would you be willing to add $30 to the price?/ This is an everyday utility knife and I wouldn't expect to use it a lot in wet conditions... although I would imagine a fisherman would constantly deal with that. hmm

Great knife - the automatic opening broke twice one mine so I just get rid of the torsion bar and use it like a flipper - it works. A serrated model would be nice.
I would like it if it overall width was thinner like the Junkyard Dog I.

I don't think G-10 would double the price, but I would pay $30 more. When working in the kitchen, my hands are wet more often than not.

Mine's bigger than I had expected (got it secondhand, so didn't have detailed specs on hand), but it's easily the sharpest knife I've ever had, straight outta the box... including the ones I've sharpened myself! :grumpy:

Same here, but I'm VERY pleased by the fact that it's alot more substantial of a folder than I thought it would be. I REALLY like its' size, as I have large hands...Those skinny knives don't fit my hand very well, but this Needs Work "fits like a glove"...(And I'm not talking about OJ's glove.:D.).

Glad to see I'm not the only one that's noticed it makes
a good kitchen knife. The ergos are perfect when cutting
onions and other veggies. It does get a little slippery, not
to bad though for something designed as a pocket knife.
$30 well spent IMHO.

I found myself wishing the blade edge was below the handle, which I think would be a bit nicer for kitchen work. But it is a really nice knife.

I recently purchased a Needs Work knife a few weeks back and am shocked at what a great knife it is for around 30 dollars. I am a fan of the sheepsfoot and wharncliffe blades and this one is very sharp. I really like the handle as it has a great feel and love the dimpling to match where your finger tips will go. At the same time I got a ENRG-2, the small one and really like it , too. Kershaw is making excellent knives for a very reasonable price!

One other thing I've noticed about this "cheap" Needs Work folder...It's the SHARPEST knive I've EVER had! It will easily SHAVE paper as well as my thumbnail. I have owned ALOT of GOOD (& expensive knives), and NONE have been THIS sharp!...(Not even my beloved Cyclones.).

Way to go Kershaw!...

Wow, your thumbnail must be really sharp! Can't cut a damn thing with my thumbnails. Now my toenails are a different story, the ones on my little toes are just plain dangerous at times. ;)

HAHAHAHA...It looks like I forgot the all-important comma (,) after the word "paper".
...And two think, that me was a english magor in kollege!.:D.

It will easily shave paper, and my thumbnail as well.

LOL...you have to admit, it was pretty damn funny G-man. :D
Maybe you should have studied " How to store knives and how
to avoid cutting ones self ". ;) :D
