I recieved a poor quality BK9

The BK-9 my kids just got me for Christmas came from Amazon I think and just look - it's a thing of beauty!

Since the original poster got the knife from Red's Gear and not from Amazon, has anyone else gotten a knife from Red's Gear? If so, how was the quality?
 
I appreciate the OP is not pleased with his knife, but the choice of language for the thread title(s), and the double threads (here and in General) is a little bit over the top IMO. If one just looked at the thread title, one could possibly assume that the poster means all BK-9's are "crap quality." More than likely, that's why some of the replies have been somewhat defensive.

No doubt, if Red's won't take care of the problem, then Ka-Bar likely will. :thumbup:

ETA: For the record, I'm not knocking the OP. He has every right to be bothered by that grind. I was just trying to explain why others might have replied sharply.

just got my ka bar bk9 in the mail and am going to return it first thing. opened up the box, pulled out the knife and first thing noticed that the blade was ground with a GIANT dip near the hilt, making it look some sort of a pirate cutlas.

I would add that some folks actually collect pirate cutlases as well, so that particular dig was uncalled for, IMO.
Welcome to the site, Becker will take good care of you just like they do everyone.

From what I have seen personally from Ethan Becker is true quality products and a man that will stand behind his knives and if any quality issues happens (which is does to every company) he will take care of them as soon as possible, there is not alot of people in this world I respect, but Mr. Becker is definitely one of them...

Ethan is a great man with years of knowledge in the knife industry.

He didn't get there with only his good looks.....;)

As I mentioned in the dupe, Becker will take care of it if you ever have an issue with their product.

Sorry that you are unhappy with the BK9 you received........Tooj and I will be talking later and if he has not seen your thread by then he will......Shortly after that I suspect you will get a PM on what to do next.......Your retailer should never have received this knife.....He is blameless.....The final grind is done by hand and it is where the knife is most likely to suffer cosmetic damage.....I have done final sharp on hundreds (thousands) of blades and just one little cough or incipient sneeze, one little stray thought and bingo----you get what you got........Yes, final inspection should have caught it.......Sorry for the inconvenience......WE WILL FIX.......

The Ka-Bar crew is getting ready for SHOT Show and they are crazy busy today and everyone will be in Lost Wages next week.....But, we will fix this......

I hate it when something like this happens to me and I hope you can forgive that we did it to you...........

+1 agreed. It makes it sound like they are all of low quality.

Maybe we could have a mod change the title for the better.
 
Ok. I was under the impression he bought it from Red's Gear. Why would he return it to Amazon?

If I buy something from Joe's Knife Store on EBAY, I wouldn't return it to EBAY.

??
 
My BK2 came from Amazon and it great. Truthfully, I don't hardly expect a knife to come sharp or with even grinds anymore.

But, if you really are sick of the 9er you can send it to me.
