I still like Benchmade, but I think I'm done with the axis lock.

I agree that sending it back to BM is the best course, however, what about us poor schmucks that live in "Nanny Land"? We really can't send our knives back to the U.S. as upon re-entering back into Canada will result in confiscation by our border clowns, so we may very well be forced to "cobble" together some fix-it. Unless Benchmade, Spyderco, Buck, Cold Steel, KAI, etc. opens a repair facility up here(or buys our border clowns all new cars to allow them back into the country) we are fairly SOL.
Haven't had a knife taken of me yet,out of about 20 shipped.
I getting ready to ship a knife back to benchmade this week.
Benchmade tighten down the pivots on all their knives coming into Canada.
So the customs can't say it's an auto.

Beadalon memory wire, one pkg of the stuff will give you 20-30 omegasprings. Holds up great.

those omega springs are the one thing that made me reconsider every time i thought of buying a benchmade. saw a deal on one, sequel coming soon finally after much deliberation. hope itll be fine

IIRC, I’ve owned 7 Benchmades over the years, and have bought 2 more for a family member and a good friend that both EDC them. None of those knives has ever had a spring failure. Of the many people I know that own/carry Benchmades not one has ever said they’ve had a spring failure.

Knowing that in worst case, I can make my own springs brings me some comfort in my choice. I plan to make my 551-1 my beater knife. The memory wire looks awesome!
